Milwaukee panel rejects plan to allow tavern owners to lock doors
The Associated Press

Published October 1, 2003 WITavernSafety

MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee Common Council committee rejected a measure that would have allowed bars to lock their doors and use security cameras to buzz in customers.
...
But Deputy Inspector Raymond Sucik said police do not want and would not accept any keys, and argued the change would hamper safety, not enhance it.
...
"I can fire 15 rounds from my service revolver, reload it and fire 15 more and still be within 30 seconds," Sucik added.

Gotta get me one of these 15-shot revolvers!

or maybe, out of habit, he used the word revolver when he meant pistol (probably an old timer who had a revolver in the past?). I still call my SUV a car at times, even though it's a truck based SUV.

Madison, Wisconsin, home of some of the most liberal people in the United States, is part of that "Land of the Cheese good guys..."

Nope, don't think so.
Bite me Mikey. We have good and bad here, just like... say... Virginia.
At least WE have 15 shot revolvers. Can YOU say that??? :D

Madison...

Yep. Part of it is the state capitol is there, and the state workers who all vote Democrat to keep their state jobs and bennies. The other part is the Univerity, all the Profs. who make a living at collectivist thought outright, (i.e. sociology, and media) and the others who ascribe to it to maintain their careers. Then there's the massive student base that just hasn't had the chance to grow out of it yet.

But aside all these normal wellsprings of liberal collectivist groupthink, there is a certain element of the neo-hippie leftist that's attracted to the area that is truly scary. They have that special "light of the true believer" in their eyes. :uhoh:

Thank God the Milwaukee liberal base is more of the usual Dolist and race-baiting kind endemic to any larger city, it somehow puts them at odds with the Madison pinkos. If they got together on anything substantive, they'd surely ruin the state.

Have you been paying attention at all? You really think that state workers consider Doyle a friend? Besides, the majority of state workers are located outside of Madison.

I'm a state worker, and a staunch republican as are many of my co-workers and co-madisonians.
Lighten up with the over generalizations guys. You're slamming me because of where I live and work even though we share politicially similar views. Shouldn't we be uniting rather than deviding? This crap really isn't what I'm used to seeing on THR.

And Mike, a stair master won't fit in my veal pen.

Mike, Mike, Mike,

Haven't you ever heard Madison is 25 square miles surrounded by reality?
:D

I work in Madison, and am HAPPY to drive 45 miles home. (In under an hour, usually)

Sometimes I feel Madison and Milwaukee are in another state.

(And I think there are more people like tommytrauma than we are given credit for...)

I used a 9-shot .22 revolver...

LeMats are also 9 shots, plus 1 shotgun.

Would 15 be much harder, if it had a really big cylinder?

tommy,

What dept. of wis.gov do you work for?

And yes, it is a broad generalization to paint all .gov workers as liberals. I actually have a married couple that are our best friends who are both very conservative public schoolteachers who won't join WEAC, so I know some examples myself.

I am from Wisconsin, and some of my friends are state employees. Some are independents, but most are Democrats or even worse: Greens. This is strange as some of them are rather pro-gun.

Curse this silly two party system. We need more viable, non-communist parties. The more parties we have represented in government, the better the odds of freezing bad legislation, and passing truly good and useful legislation.

tommy,

What dept. of wis.gov do you work for?

Department of Health and Family Services, Division of Healthcare Financing, Disability Determination Bureau. How's that for a mouthful? (Just to avoid confusion, I also work as a paramedic, and have made references to that job in other posts.)

We make the medical decisions for Social Security Disability claims. While Social Security is a federal gig, the determinations for disability are made in each state by state workers. But... we're federally funded, so we're the unwanted step children in state service.

[rant mode on] I'm telling you man, there is no other program that can do such a good job of showing you how f**ked up libralism is. Do you have ANY IDEA how much of your tax money is going to parents of kids with "oppositional defiant disorder"? Or how well and truely our school system is screwed up?

Call me a liberal, and I'm gonna grab my 15 shot revolver and come find you. [rant mode off]
