Mimi Miyagi running for governor

I was watching the news and they did a segment about the governors’ election for Nevada. There seems to be a former porn star (aka Mimi Miyagi) running for office and I just had to see what her campaign and platform were about :evil: and if it included a pro or anti gun agenda, I could not find any pro or anti gun stances. I then clicked on her resume:D (I could not resist) and was pleasantly surprised, nay impressed by what she listed. It seems she is into security and personal defense.

Certifications: 2001. National Rifle Association, PPC.
Certifications: 2001. Line Of Fire, CCW Course.
Certifications: 2003. Global School of Investigation.
Certifications: 2004. SCI, Secuirty/Police Sciences.

Does anyone know what these certificates mean? Are they difficult to obtain? Do politicians in your locale have credentials such as these?

It is just a guess but I think she is pro-RKBA. To me these certificates say alot more about a persons stance on firearms than making a speech about it. She doesn't mention her stance on guns so I don't think she got the certificates for show.

This is all RKBA needs--to be viewed as a silly, kook movement for "fringe" people. This trivializes the real issues. It's an ego-driven publicity stunt.

I realize Nevada is the playground of naked babes gone wild with automatic weapons. Rock on.

The tattoo's cute but couldn't she get the entire Second Amendment on there?

Good to know she's pro 2A. People would be amazed at the different folks who are pro 2A I'd bet. Unfortunately, there's a lot who what THEIR Second Amendment rights protected, but not anyone elses.

She can pack all the heat she wants (and no doubt needs to). Whether she's the ideal candidate for selling the Second Amendment to Mr. and Mrs. America is the issue for me. It's all about capturing minds.
 
Well, a porn star does kind of kill the idea that all gun owners are ultra Christian conservative rednecks. An asian porn star usually doesn't fit into the mold.

I'll admit she's probably not the best spokesperson for the Second Amendment, but she can get people to realize that many others want firearms for personal protection other than those who they envision in their ultra narrow world view. Even if she changes just one mind about the Second Amendment, she's done some good for the cause ;)

Well, sure, but the reality is that identifying sex with the Second Amendment, as opposed to the issue of self-defense, only clouds rather than clears minds. This will turn on men and turn off women--and the turn-on is not the point here.

So what you are saying is that she is fully qualified for Governor, and more than qualified to be a State Senator?

At least she is honest... good for her! Hope she wins.
 
Porn star to politician, well I hope she wins, but I hope she's ready for a really sleazy occupation.
 
I just donated to her campaign. I'd love to see her pushing a state-preemption bill on gun permits. Watch the Peoples' Republik of Clark Co scream, over having to allow open carry, etc.
 
Seems to be that being a competent porn star with an appreciation of RKBA is much better than being a lousy non-porn actor opposed to RKBA. After all, her actions don't hurt our cause, whereas actions of certain Hollyweirdos do.

Best reply so far. As for voting for her, I am willing to vote for anyone that is not a carree politician or lawyer.
 
you know, the thing here is that the assumption seems to be that as a porn star she is some kind of second class citizen. I don't have a daughter and if I did I sure wouldn't want her doing porn, but you know, she was engaged in a legal activity that brought lots of people pleasure (literally and figuratively) and also made her some coin. For all we know, Mimi might be the smartest person in every room she walks into, and she might go on to do wonderful things if given the chance. Of course, the exact opposite might also be true, but my idealistic sentiment is to give her a chance to prove herself past the assumptions.

But seriously, good on her. If a WWF clown can get elected Governor of Minnesota, and a movie clown can become Governor of California (to say nothing of some of the other clowns in public office), then why not?
 
What excuse would the Dems have left if the Radical, Fundamentalist Christian, Right Wing, Extremists elected a porn star over a Democrat?
