Min and Max Load

Right.
Hodgdon made some odd choices for bullets to test loads with. I doubt there are many folks out there loading jacketed SWCs to 977 fps; better they should have gone with a hollow point like the OP wants.

Stranger yet, they went with the (discontinued) Hornady flat point for a 230 gr bullet and then show a lead roundnose at the same 1.200" OAL. I am sure the deep seating = reduced powder space leads to very conservative loads, but the short OAL sure confuses the poor novice recipe hunters.

That is why I personally try to verify and cross reference my load data from multiple sources. Sometimes Lee will have higher or lower charges when compared to Hodgdon. I just checked my Hornady reloading APP and it doesn't list Universal as a powder choice for their 185 Grain bullets.

Here is what the Hornady APP lists for 185 grain bullets and BE-86:

Start load - 6.4Gr - 850 FPS
Max load - 7.9Gr - 1000 FPS

They give the COL for the 185Gr HAP and 185Gr XTP at 1.245" and COL for the 185Gr JSWC at 1.135"]

Hodgdon definitely needs to update their data. Especially since the only 45ACP 185Gr data they give is for a bullet that Hornady discontinued.
