if you have a scope on rifle ,take a baseball cap run the cap adjusting hole on too scope ,it will place bill ,near ejection port ,stopping shells from going far ,it what i do

JMHO- I'd never do anything to a firearm
that would possibly compromise reliability
in any way
Reliability is first and foremost then accuracy.
Everything else is minor details way way way way way down the list
There's oodles and oodles of 223/556
brass to be had all over, but not every
firearm is totally reliable.

I have used a brass catcher designed for the mini 14 I will dig out my mini14 stuff out and get back to you on the brand .I used the catchers when i went to the range ,the other shooters did not like the hot brass shower!

Finally got to shoot my mini after experimenting with gas bushings, .062 is the sweet spot for mine. It tosses the brass about 10 feet to the right and slightly ahead of the gun. Piles them up in a neat little mound, no more flinging brass into the next zip code.

I have mini 14 and it works fine except that it throws the brass yards. Can that be easily fixed or am I destined to continue to spend hours looking for spent brass? I live in an area that there isn’t a public shooting range and I shoot on my own property. I reload and wasted brass is almost as troubling as the brass being picked up and thrown by the mower. I thought about a sand pit but I have picked up brass 35’ away from my shooting box. Any advice?

Ok very good, but has nothing to do with calming down the violent over gassed action. Even beaver modify their environment.

Being as cheap as I am, collecting my brass is a no brainer. It's kinda nice not to have to scour the country side looking for it or dodging rocks from other shooters because my brass went down their shirt.
