Picked up my 30 rifle today. Fun to shoot (am just a plinker, maybe future feral pig hunter...if escorted by a real hunter).
Two of the included magazines work really well, but the other two , which are identical but silver, will not feed up from the mag-totally useless. I can not fault the seller, he was really reasonable with the total package.

Is Promag one of the better producers? My Mini 14 does quite well with 30-round ProMag for .223.

None of my four have any name or labeling, except for maybe the smaller black Ruger factory 5-rd. mag. for 7.62x39.
Will Ruger begin producing actual higher-cap. mags in the next few months, or is this only rumour?

THAT is the single biggest problem with the M-30. Promag makes a 10 rd that works, it looks just like a taller factory mag.

For 20 and 30 rd mags good luck.

The old USA mags can be tweaked to work, but probably still not 100% like you'd want for a defensive rifle.

C-Products promised M-30 mags in early 08 but the latest communication with them says it's not even being planned anymore. Mags for the M-30 is a current topic at http://perfectunion.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=105 because C-Products just burned us. :fire: It's a good dedicated Mini forum.

Promag has a polymer 30 Rd but it needs tweaking, I might try a couple. They just announced they are working on steel 20 and 30s. Oh boy, here we go again. Since thier 10 rd look like factory clones other than the length they would be the best manufacturers, I'm just not getting my hopes up anymore.

Just avoid the cheap brands alltogether, National, KKK, etc. You might go to Midway and read the reviews on them, not good.

On the Perfect Union forum someone is showing how to make DIY Frankenmags by welding together USA bodies with factory tops. That's how bad the M-30 high cap situation really is.

Ruger has never made or sold high cap mags for the M-30, only the Mini-14.
