Does anyone know if there are any truly good working magazines for the mini 30? I have tried a bunch and so far the only two that work all the time are the factory 5 round and the Promag 10 round. I bought 6 Promag plastic 30 rounders witht the lifetime warranty (had to work I thought!) and the gun wouldn't close, let alone could I put it in the gun cause the feed lips were too thick. Had to file the sides of the lips as well as the gap in between them. After that the locking tab had to be filed down but that is OK. Still after getting tham to fit, they won't feed, especially with more than 25 rounds in them. Does anyone have experience with these? I heard that there is a parting line burr on the inside that hangs up the follower. I also heard that putting in Wolff mag springs helps and have still heard that people have loaded em up and they feed perfect from the get go (liars). Let me know what the solutions are.

the bane of the M30's existence is the lack of good extended mags. absolutely NO 30 rounders are reliable. the USA 20's can be made to function IF they fit into the mag well snugly to begin with. American and Promag 10's do well at least in mine (the Promag 30 ain't worth a crap) both of them will drop free when empty which makes for a fast reload. there is scuttlebutt about PMI planning to make 20's early '08 if so they are known as good stuff for their Mini-14 mags. when you think about it though 10 rounders that do well are considerable firepower. seems I read that AK stripper clip loaders can be modified to fit.

I bought one for mine at a gun show in Grand Forks about 10 years ago. I think it's a 30 round mag. It's in Idaho so I can't get to it to check the brand until I head back up there. I didn't have any trouble at all with it.

That's why I won't buy a Mini 30 or a 7.62x39 AR15 ever again. You always seem to find 30 round abominations, that never seem to work except with only 10 rounds or less.

Back in 93' I ordered a dozen each 30 round mags for my Mini 30 and 7.62x39 Colt AR. They cost me over twenty bucks apiece and when they arrived they were 30 round AK mags that were chopped off and welded to thin sheetmetal adaptors. None worked with more than 10 rounds in them. I sold them to dealer at a gun show for five dollars more apiece than I paid during the AWB.
