Mini Blades!

i just found my first fixed blade mini. 4” overall, bout a 2” blade. This one was handmade by someone.

I have no idea what i am going to do with it, or whether i even want to carry it or not. But I bought it cuz it’s a cute little bugger, and I now want to make a horizontal belt sheath for it.

Anybody carry a mini blade?

I found out how handy the small fixed blades can be when i started carrying a patch knife for my bp shooting hobby.

I put bone scales on this green river blank.

And here is a modern design tthat would make an excellent edc neck knife. This was designed snd produced by my cousin!

One of these is my EDC. About a 1 1/2" changeable blade so its always sharp. About $10 at Wally. It does every thing I ask of it.

I have one of those, and I like the little razor knives. Handy and not expensive. I dont often find the little blades for them, though. Admittedly, they arent high on my shopping list...

Haha the long saga of the Companion knives is well known on Bladeforums. Lots of OEM issues.

I like small blades as they are very useful, but not small handles. I have big hands and need more to hang on to so I made a Small Skinner with a 2 1/4" blade and a 5" handle. Sold a lot of them and they skinned all kinds of animals!

I am very proud of the ARK that Sam Owens and I designed, that Spyderco produces. The only downside to it for everyday use, is that it's a dedicated neck knife (though literally the best example, in my educated opinion). If you want a knife that can also be worn on your belt easily, CRKT's minimalist is a good choice.

I carried a little SOG Instinct as a boot knife at work for several months. Good little knife and I kept it on me as a last ditch self defense weapon, as I work in a strict gun free zone. It was taken by the FBI as evidence in an incident and I will likely not get it back. But at only $30 I'm not crying over it. It has been replaced by 2 knives: A Kabar LDK in my boot and a Leatherman Z-Rex on my belt.

Small neck knives are pretty common at muzzle loader events as well as at traditional/primitive archery doins'.
Some guys even have a small knife in a sheath on their arm guard.

I believe my little find has a place in my EDC rotation, if i can get the sheath done the way i want. I dont really want to neck carry, but want to find or make a little horizontal job. I think that would be just the ticket.
