th_100_1465.jpg "]http:// th_100_1465.jpg [/URL]I's called the Mini G it's a cut down M1 Garand 'it's evern shorter than the tanker. The pics I've seen it looks like the same length as a m1 carbine. If I rember right it costs 500 buck to convert your M1 to one of theses Mini G's. I'm interested but not 100% about chopping down my M1.

Shuff does it for $525 + shipping. I think new ones are around $1300.

They look fun, but I wouldn't want to do it to any of mine.

I own one, The difference isnt worth the price in my opinion.
With the small change in barrel length comes a whole new dynamic to the way the weapon recoils. by the time you put on a recoil pad and a Smith compensator your nearly back to original length.
The smartest thing I did was rebarrel them in .308, the availability of ammo made that a smart choice for me.

I'd never chop up a nice Garand just out of respect for history, but it is a bit long.

An 18" barrel is about perfect for this type of rifle, especially one with open sights and no scope mount.
