Miniature shotgun shells

Double-barrel shotguns... supre-light loads. I think there is a particular shotgun that just shoots the short shells as well. If you modify some shotguns, they can load them... Mossberg for one that I've been told. Never done it myself.

It depends; since they're just about recoil-less, they'd be handy for pest control or teaching someone how to shoot a shotgun without beating them up with recoil, but the same size shells are also used in the South African Mag-7 shotgun (pistol and longarm versions), since the mag-well is inside the pistol grip:

The trouble is, they're so short that many pump-actions won't work properly with them, because the shell-stops will let 1 1/2 of these out of the tube before they kick back into operation.

What shotguns? I haven't seen this happen. Shell stop and interrupter are never both out of the way on Mossberg, Remington, and Ithaca. Did I miss something?

I stick a few in my pocket when hunting anything with a 12 gauge. They are great small game loads when the only other thing you have on you is a 3'' turkey load :D

A friend of mine bought a flat of them, figuring they'd be just the thing for his 870 in action shotgun, but he never could get them to work properly in his gun (symptom: 1 shell on the carrier, with another part-way out, preventing the carrier from lifting), so he ended up trading them off to SxS shooters. His gun functioned fine with 2 3/4" ammo, so I can't think of another explanation?

The coolest treat I've found lately is how quiet Mini slugs are out of my 28" Savage 311h Mod and Mod chokes. They hit minute of pumpkin at 100 feet all the time! They are similar to a .22lr in my gun.

I tried them in my 870. I can load, cycle and eject them fine but when you shoot one the empty shell hangs up when ejecting them.

I dont know... learn something every day. Those look too short to work right every time in my 870. In fact, I think I can also presume that they wont work right every time. Too short.

You South Africans sure know how to make weapons down that way over the sea. Do alot of shooting over there?

From the link I posted:

Works well in Winchester 1300 and FN shotguns. Remingtons and Charles Dalys may require some modification. Mossbergs require some elevator modification.

Aguila website used to have the modification how-too on it, but it is down now.

The #7 1/2 loads pretty much turn a 12 gauge into a .410 in terms of shot mass. Might be useful in teaching a new shooter since they would be unlikely to cause flinching problems or recoil sensitivity.

Midway also sells 2" and 2 1/2" shells so you could work your way up to full-strength shells if you wanted to use a gradual approach..
