Miroku 1892 Takedown By Turnbull Restoration.

Not with the clearcoat that Turnbull applies. I have a Ruger done 20yrs ago that still looks new. Actually the bluing is more worn than the CCH.

Wow that's a beauty. Thank you for sharing Craig. I was watching videos about their process last night and seen reference to the clear coat over the case hardening. Do you know if you have to be careful with various cleaning solvents not to remove it?

If I remember right it's a lacquer. I only wipe my guns off with CLP so it's never an issue. I use solvents very little.

Cool, thanks for sharing gbflyer.

Does anyone know the cartridge overall length that the miroku 1892 in 44 magnum will handle?

It won't stabilize anything long enough to give the action a fit. Pretty much limited to 300gr. It's why I want one of the new Chiappa's with the 1-20" twist.

Thanks Craig. I've found very limited info on the twist rate. But I have seen one place where a gent said his was 1:26. That should allow 300 grain bullets to be used I think. Do you know what it'll handle if it indeed has a 1:20 twist?

I don't know how it came to be but all the 1892's are generally 1-30", which is good to at least 300gr. The standard 20" twist rate will stabilize up to 400gr. I talked to my gunsmith about tuning one of the new Chiappa 1-20" twist guns to feed 355's and he said it wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the info Craig. That's very useful to me. I'll have to find me a 300+ grain bullet or two to play with.

Thanks Craig. I tried the Lee 300 grainer but it was too stout for me in a handgun. 270 is about all I want weight wise for that purposes. A rifle though I certainly see how it could be a useful addition to my arsenal.
