I took my TTC to the range with my Father in law today.

I had some issues with it. Note that the ammunition is the same commercial Sellier and Bellot stuff I have been shooting with no issues
Also note that the gun was just cleaned and oiled. (Powder Blast, CLP, and Remmington oil)
the gun first refused to load properly. It took multiple slide pulls to feed a round into the chamber. I attributed this to a balky magazine and proceeded to fire the gun. It fired about 32 rounds with no problem then fired twice with one trigger pull ! It fired OK for one more magazine and then double shot twice more! Has this happened to anybody else here?

The gun is from 1953 Rom. stock and has worked with no issues for 100s of rounds...

What scares me is the fact that I could hold the trigger down and fan the hammer and have it hit the firing pin say 2 or 3 times out of 10 tries
In other words, with an unloaded gun pull back the slide and let it go, pull the trigger and hold it. The hammer falls. Then pull the hammer back, release it and it will fall again! Then pull the hammer back and it will lock into the cocked position like it should until the trigger is released and pulled again.

What would cause this to happen and is it an easy fix? The gun only cost $200 so I do not want to spend too much on a gunsmith to fix it...

For now it is unloaded and stuck in a case...

Take it apart and clean and inspect the trigger group. It all comes out as one piece and should be easy to see if FOD is blocking the sear from engaging the hammer or if something is wrong with the disconnector.

I am going to clean it and inspect it tonight or tomorrow.

The trigger never caused issues before.

Thanks Wally!

I have taken it out in the past and cleaned it with Powder Blast and oiled it with Remington oil. Could I have over-lubed it? Could over-lubing cause the sear to slip out?

Are trigger groups available? I am not concerned as that part is not serialized like the barrel, slide, and receiver. which are all matching numbers...

Thanks,

Joe
