Anyone tried or are using these bullets in 45 acp? Any loads or experiences sincerely appreciated.

I am just here for the replies as I have not tried them. I ALMOST bought some a few weeks ago. They look good on paper but the hardness and weight being 215 grain kinda deterred me. I opted for the "classic" 200 grain swc instead. Decision was partially based on the fact that if I have to troubleshoot and tweek the load to make it run there is plenty of info out there on how to go about it. I bet those 215s penetrate like crazy, though!

Why??

How about regular flat nose?

Because am working on a moderate load for shorty 45's (semi and revolver) with a wide flat nose. Already have loads for other common shapes.

I shoot 45 ACP revolvers a lot. My every day load is on the left in this image, IMG_8066.jpeg

The SAECO 453, 235 grain wadcutter bullet seated over a wadcutter dose of powder. The wadcutter shape hits harder than anything other shape and gives full penetration on Ohio white tailed deer. Without a lot of tuning, I don’t think you could use it in a self loader but in revolvers, WOW!

So far have been using 1.188 col and hp-38/unique in a 3 in semi. Needed the shorter COL to feed, and wanted to use powders i already have. They feed, but in shooting smaller quantity's over several range sessions, they gunked up the chamber enough to become unreliable. Will try 1.175 COL next, with around 770 fps from 3 in semi. They work exceptionally well in all the 45 AR revolvers (3,4,5 in) tried in. They have not leaded up any bores yet, which am attributing (guessing) to the coating, flat base and use of faster rate powders. Already have loads for other bullet shapes/purposes.

I have shot a bunch of both styles in .45 ACP, different vendor back in the day.

You don’t need them very hard. I used 230 Gr data for the 225 Gr TrFP & it works with the 215, but you can bump it a hair with that one.
