Plated? Do you mean their Hi-Tek coated lead bullets? If you mean something else, please provide a link...

Yeah, not aware of any plated from MBC and their website doesn't mention it. The coated bullets are fantastic IMO though.

I use the 125gr cone for 9mm and the Bullseye#1 200gr SWC for .45
Great bullets and they ship very fast.

I've been using Missouri Bullets since about the time they opened. They are a great company and you will be pleased with the products.

On a plus side, the owners are very active in the gun rights movement. Brad Alpert, owner, was active in bringing concealed carry to Missouri, had an active role in the JPFO, and is a founder of the Zelman Partisans, another Jewish based gun rights organization that was founded in honor of the original JPFO founder.

I have to confess, I am a member.

I just wished they offered 250gr 45c bullets in .454 diameter! I do load the their cowboy number 1 now but rather have them .002 oversize!

.45 ACP & BE-86 starting load suggestions?

I've never reloaded lead and ordered a mix of MBC bullets to give it a try. I've ordered the following: .45 Button - Hi Tek (185 SWC), Bullseye #1 - Hi-Tek (200 SWC), and Softball! - Hi-Tek (230 RN)

I am going to use BE-86 and was wondering:
  • Starting load suggestions
  • Leading issues
  • Comparative bullet comments in 1911 & Glock

My 1st pass will be:
  • BE-89 6.7gr MBC .45 Button - Hi Tek SWC 185 1.235 OAL Federal 150
  • BE-89 5.9gr MBC Bullseye #1 - Hi-Tek SWC 200 1.175 OAL Federal 150
  • BE-89 5.4gr MBC Softball! - Hi-Tek RN 230 1.200 OAL Federal 150

This is all for range shooting - mostly concerned about cycling and leading - don't need laser fast (900+ fps), just tagging paper...

Comments (and the occasional flame) appreciated!

I only shoot the Missouri Bullseye #1 200gr coated in my 1911's. The COL is 1.250". My 1911's won't feed this bullet at 1.175" COL.

I meant the coated bullets. Thanks for the info, I will try their coated ones the next order.

I tried the MBC 240-grain Hi-Tek coated bullets in my .44 Magnum since the uncoated variety leaded badly, and have been very satisfied indeed. Well worth the small added cost in my opinion.

I have shot thousands of MBC #1 Bullseye 200 gr SWC both plain lead and coated and have never had any leading. The only reason I went to coated was because I got tired of cleaning bullet lube out of my pistols.

I was skeptical about some new fangled colored glaze on my bullets. So I bought a sample pack (nice concept) of the 158gr HiTek .358 SWC and loaded some for my Combat Magnum and Webley Mark III .38S&W. I was very pleased.
I have been a happy customer of MB for some years, just hesitant to change.

I am currently using MB HiTek in 45 auto, 38 special, 357 magnum, and 44 magnum. Very pleased and surprised with the results. Load from target to full power 44 magnum loads using Ramshot True Blue and W296. No apparent leading problems yet. I have only used the 18 bhn hardness bullets. I would trust my life to these bullets. I did have to shorten my loads in 45 auto in a para P14-45 1911 double stack. Will not feed at full length, will not even fit and feed up magazine without jamming (flat head 225 gr). (Check out FrogFur's post above for similar problem, but I think he meant ..1.275"...instead of 1.175...1.275" is the max col for 45 auto) Now loading FlatHeads at 2.240" COL and very happy gun and shooter. MB HiTek bullets loaded:38/357 357 Action at 158 gr; 45 auto: IDP #4-XD at 200 gr & FlatHead at 225 gr; 44 magnum 44 Smasher at 240 gr.
Enjoy your purchase and I strongly recommend the extra pennies for coated bullets. After the results from my first order I went right to the "bullet bundle' ordering system to save money.
Regards,
Pete
