Hi all--

I'm about to order some bulk bullets from Missouri Bullet Company, and I wanted to know if anyone has loaded and shot the new-ish 180 grain Strikers in 357 mag. I've loaded their 357 action (158 grain lead, 18 brinell) in full-house loads with 2400 without any leading whatsoever. That being said, I'd guess that the same company, same brinell in 180 grain would still work well for me, but I wanted to know if any of you were loading this bullet. For what it's worth, this is out of a 6'' 686 and for the purpose of range use.

Thanks!

Revolverguy--you just scared the hell out of me, so I called MBC about 2 minutes ago--they're still selling to the public and have no intentions of doing otherwise.

Interested to hear reports on this bullet as well. I'm looking for a good 180-200 grain slug for my 357 Blackhawk, and since I buy most of my bullets from MBC it would be great if that one worked well.

I thought they weren't selling to the general public anymore

Still are. In fact, the owner just stated the other day that they have finally caught up with the backlog and are humming along nicely. They have been doing such a booming business with grafs, powder valley, and other retail outlets that its been difficult for them to keep up.

Yeah I know back in March Brad made an announcement about only whole sellers but welcomed feedback.

I haven't shot their 180gr .357 Magnum bullets but I have shot their 165gr 30-30 and 405gr 45-70 bullets without any signs of leading. I'm sure the 180gr .357 Magnum bullets are just as good...

They've worked well for me, I shoot alot of different Missouri Bullets and the striker shoots as good as the rest.

I've only shot a few loads with them.

11.4g AA#9 was 1262fps

13.8g Win296 was 1245fps (same as H110)

Both of the above were from a S&W 27-2 with a 8 3/8" bbl

Thanks, squarles. Just out of curiosity, are you using Lyman data? If so, are you using the 170 linotype bullet, or the jacketed hollow point 180?

Either way, the load you listed with H110 is not the max in either of the bullet configuartions I have (in my data), but the 1245 fps is quite impressive.

Anyone out there load this bullet with 2400?

I have the Lyman 49th but I generally cross reference to mfg data and with a 180g jacketed bullet Hodgdon lists a max of 13.5 and Lyman lists the starting load at 13.9 so I started at 13.8g. I still want to do some more testing but I haven't had the chance.

The high velocity is due to the 8 3/8" bbl of my model 27, barrel length in 357mag makes a big difference. The Lyman data is from a 4" bbl.

I've used the 180g Styker with 357. Have killed two wild hogs with the bullets. Below are what I've worked up with. The IMR4227 load is the most accurate with my 6" Dan Wesson. The w296 load makes the 357 feel like a 44mag.

bullet gr Bullet powder gr powder
180g Cast 6.4 Power Pistol
180g Cast 12.5 IMR4227
180g Cast 14.9 w296
180g Cast 11.5 AA #9 (use heavy crimp & mag primers)

I've reloaded them in the past for a 4" S&W M66-2.

I had a very hard time getting data.
But as far as leading, there was none to speak of.
