I just recently bought a couple boxes of Missouri Bullets 230 LRN, a box of their xd bullets, and a box of the new flathead bullets. When I loaded up a bunch of the 230 LRN with 4.6 grains of 231 for my colt 1911 I got a good amount of leading in the barrel right at the front of the barrel. When I measured the bullets they measured .451, and then I measured the xd bullets and they measured the same when they are supposed to be .452. When I measured the flathead bullets they measured .452 like the box says. The only lead bullets I have used in my colt were some 200 gr swc from oregon trail and I didn't have a single problem with lead because they were .452. Does this seem normal because I thought lead bullets are supposed to be bigger then jacketed rounds to avoid leading? Thank you for any input in advance guys!

Was the box marked with the size ? See if you can return them, or load them a little heavier, yours is a light load, to see if they will expand to fill the bore.

Yeah they are marked .452. I am still waiting on my chronograph before I start really upping the load. I have shot 5.0 grains of 231 but I seemed like the lighter load. I will have to email them, I emailed them a few times when I placed the order and they responded pretty quickly and were very nice.

Did you call Missouri Bullets to rectify this issue before posting here?

If you look at my last post I said "I will e-mail them." I just thought it was off that 3 of the 4 boxes I ordered measured at .451 and it is the first time I have ever ordered from them so I was curious if this was normal and wanted to know other peoples opinions.

Nope thats not normal. Brad from Missouri Bullet will fix you right up though, no need to sweat it at all! In fact, I wouldnt be surprised to see him amble on in here on this thread. Either way, let him know, he will fix it.

I e-mailed Brad about it and he sent out new bullets without a problem and is sending me labels to ship the old ones back. Great Customer service!!!

Welcome to THR.

IDP #4 XD is 200 gr RNFP bullet and we have discussed on previous THR threads that 5.0 gr of W231/HP38 works well at 1.195" OAL (seated
at the crimp groove). For me, this load produces comparable accuracy to my 200 gr SWC load with same 5.0 gr of W231/HP38 at 1.260" OAL.

Give it a try and let us know how it does.

Flahead is 225 gr TCFP and I just use 230 gr load data.

Yup.

The best load for my M9 was a .358" 125gr lead TC meant for a 38 loaded on top of 4.1grs of 231 at an OAL of 1.050". It would shoot 1" or better at 15 yards and was very very pleasant. No leading either.
