Hi all! a lady I have known for a long time stopped by tonight with a shotgun for me to look at. it turned out to be a Mitchell High Standard pump action 12 ga., in excellent+ condition. it is a model 9113-B, extended magazine & I'm guessing 18" barrel.Mftd by A.C.P. Philippines stamped on one side of barrel. other side, IMPTD by A.P.I. San Mateo CA. has Mitchell High Standard stamped on side of receiver. blued finish, rifle-style sights, plain wood furniture, engine-turned finish on bolt carrier group. super-nice looking shotgun, very smooth cycling, decent balance, she said she thought it only had like 3 or 4 rounds fired through it, & the condition supports her claim. SO, really cool little shotgun all set up for home defense. surely not in the same class as a Ithaca 37 or a Winchester model12, but seems like a rather useful tool anyways. has anyone here owned one of these or know much about them? she would like to sell it, but I really don't know what to offer her. any assistance in regards to value? thanks!!! A.J.

Not really a "real" High-Standard.
They were made in the Phillipines and imported for Mitchell Arms when they owned the rights to the High-Standard name.

Here is an owners manual.

I have no idea of the value, but would assume it would be worth in the $200 range in good condition & working.
Auction prices for real U.S. made High Standard pumps are all over the place.

hey RCmodel, thank you for the information and the link, I printed the owner's manual out & will pass it along with the shotgun as it finds a new owner. my local gunshop told me it is only worth about $100.00. so based on your opinion & his, I will try to get one and a half or one seventy for the lady who owns it. thanks again, rock on! A.J.

a.j.,

They're still imported from the Philippines, by Rock Island Armory (RIA). But the name has changed again. They're made by Armscor in the PI. See http://www.armscor.net/m5_shotgun.html .

It's a good design, I don't know how well the Armscor execution of it is but I really like the old High Standard pumpguns. Biggest drawback to the old design is that the barrel is screwed in and it isn't a takedown gun.

Your $150 or so price sounds about right.
