Yes, I'm aware of the controversy surrounding Mitchell's and their K98s. I'm not interested in those. I'm interested in their M48s.

Yes, maybe a bit overpriced, but I'm not going for collectible here, I'm going for a shooter...plain and simple. I want something that is in great shape, looks nice, and shoots nice.

Who owns one of their M48s?

Not that it matters much to me, but are these refinished as well?

Thanks.

If your about to pay more than $150 for a m48 shooter look elsewhere. I have a all matching M48 in good condition and paid $150 OTD for it (got it last month). Look on gunbroker, and also the normal online gun sites.

I would be interested as well, what is the best source for an M48bo??

I will check out those sources.

I'm having trouble finding more "unissued" M48s. Anyone have a better source?

Im not sure but that one looks pretty good. I got mine used at a gun show but im in no way an expert on mausers.

Thanks for the reply.

I will most likely go for that one, or the 24/47.

The mitchell m48's were not refinished, and they are expensive but compared to what? I've seen M48's for 150, that were well used and beat up. Good for their age but not like new by any means. My M48 arrived in my hands without any evidence that anyone has ever even picked it up. The bore is bright and the rifling is strong and not 1 handling mark on the wood. It's in like new condition.

If there is a place out there that sells them like Mitchells in the same exact condition, then let me know and Ill buy 2. I had a 24/47 that I recently sold and for 150.00 it was like these other m48's i've seen, but i have yet to see one in the same condition as my Mitchells.

I got one from Mitchell's about 10 years ago. Excellent condition elm stock, 4 digit serial number all numbers the same. Shoots good, yes I probably paid too much but I am pleased with the one I got.

I bought a 98 from SAMCO a good number of years ago. Reciever is marked CE (Sauer). All parts have different numbers-Late war bolt w/o the guide rib. Walnut stock. Barrel like new. Decent shooter but just a shooter. The non-ribbed bolts are fairly rare items. If the price is still 199.00 it hasn't changed.
