Mix N Match, Advise please!

Given the paucity of available pistol powder around here, I scored in a major way today by finding a can each of 700X and Trail Boss. I'm new to reloading and haven't used either before. I'm currently reloading 9mm, 45 ACP, and 38 SP.

Between those two powders, which do you think I'd be happiest trying to work up loads with? One for all those calibers? Or 700X for "this" and Trail Boss for "that".

Any experience and advise are appreciated.

I have used 700X for both 9 mil and 45 ACP with great success, I have never loaded Trail Boss, can't help you there.

I only have experience with 700x so thats what i will comment on. I used it with sucess for .45auto but did not have any with 9mm as I just could not get my powder measure to drop small/accurate loads with it. Same would probably be true for 38 special. Some have had sucess with their powder measures but I did not. The larger load the better. Same with Red Dot, Unique, etc...

Looks like there is data for Trail Boss in 45ACP and 38 Special. I use it for loading 45 Colt. It works really good for Cowboy shooting. You can really turn out some powderpuff loads with it. Als it is very hard to double charge a case---it is fluffy and yakes up alot of room.

For 9mm, I use 700x. For both 45 and 38 special I use Trail Boss. Trail Boss gives very good accuracy for those loads.
