I'm researching for a friend considering buying one soon. I've read some who love them, and some marginally biased Saiga fans bashing them. Any High Roaders who have actually shot one or even better, own one have any thoughts? I'm familiar with the specs, etc, I'm more interested in shootability and reliability, and if you have experience the break in period I've read widely about.

Thanks in advance,

A friend of mine has one of the worked-over MKA 1919s from Firebird Precision. I had a chance to do some informal plinking with it one idle afternoon.

General impressions are that it cycles fast, and shoots well.

Felt recoil was sharp and unpleasant, moreso than my Benelli M2. The gun also didn't always strip a new round from the magazine, but since that time, my friend said he's gotten that issue sorted.

Overall, they're very neat guns, and feel like they're built more solidly than the Saigas.
