Last Sat, 8:55 AM, I took a 7 pt 145# buck at about 30 yds using a Rem ML in 54 Cal using 100 gr Pyrodex and a TC Maxiball bullet. Shot through both shoulders and he ran about 50 yds. Heard him 'crash and burn' in the thicket. Blood trailed him easily.

My gun shoots those big ole bullets VERY accurately with that load and a wonder wad over the powder.

Way to go Critter. I did the same thing last Thursday a 4 point in the morning at 20 yds. shoulder shot in and out. In the after noon I took a button buck at 120 yds.entered right rib cage exited in front of left shoulder. T/C Omega Hornady 240gr. mag Hornady mag sabot in front of 130 grs. Pyrodex. Neather Deer knew what hit them.

You guys are making me homesick for "back east".
I won't be hunting anything this year. Out here you have to apply for a tag and they have a lottery for tags. Even if you get drawn you can only get one deer. And of course you have to drive several hundred miles and camp for a week or so.
