Friends- In a most Clintonesque move, the Misguided Mommies are now
engaged in a venomous campaign of personal destruction towards some NRA
leaders, using their ultimate epithet- "RACIST!" and inviting visits to
a new site where they use selective quotes out of context which, with a
great stretch of imagination, one MAY conclude the person is not wholly
in synch with the agenda of the Mommies allies.

Actaully, all but Ted Nugent make a lot of sense, and only those with
hate, malice and loathing can manage to twist their words into some sort
of racist meaning. However that will not stop them from making the
charge anyway.

As for Ted Nugent, his words are outrageous, inflammatory and spoken
from the heart. For a long time Rock & Roll guy, the ability to form a
complete sentence, and convey a thought is pretty impressive, even if
one may not agree with everything he said (mainly in interviews with
"shock-jock" type rock and roll outlets.) I doubt if Hillary will use
his quote in her campaign.

Watch for this to be hyped in the media over the next few weeks, as they
fight to stop S659 (lawful commerce in arms act) and to extend/expand
the so called "assault weapons ban."

They must be getting desperate, but they can still win.

Subject: NRA Racist Comments Exposed

Dear Million Mom March Supporter,

Last time we contacted you, we promised that January would bring a
flurry of activity on the gun issue. It has begun. Here's what NRA CEO
Wayne LaPierre has to say about our efforts so far: "In my 25 years in
Washington Politics, I've never seen such a carefully calculated and
coordinated assault." Well, he's just seen the beginning.

Thanks to you, we've been able to launch a new site (www.nraleaders.com)
as the first move. We're exposing the NRA for what they have become:
one of the most extreme organizations in this country and now, once and
for all, totally out of sync with the values of Americans.

We thoroughly researched the NRA and could not believe what we found, so
we posted the facts on a new site. It will be clear to you just how
outrageous the NRA has become.

The NRA cannot get a free pass. Clearly, board members who have
espoused racist, homophobic, and violent views should be forced to
resign. Public officials, like Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID), Reps. Barbara
Cubin (R-WY) and Donald Young (R-AL) have an obligation to denounce
those statements and should resign from the NRA's board of directors.
Wayne LaPierre, the NRA's CEO, who is responsible for everything the NRA
does and says, should resign.

So click here to see what the NRA leadership stands for. And, in their
own words.

The new NRA Leaders site is just the beginning. We're going to
continue our public relations and ad campaign with more print ads and a
TV spot.

The NRA has three utterly reckless bills before Congress we must stop.

1: Destroy Background Record Checks

The NRA wants to destroy records of all allowed firearm sales within 24
hours instead of the current 90-day law. They also want to block the
ATF from requiring gun dealers like Bull's Eye Shooter Supply (the
dealer who armed the DC snipers) to take regular inventories of their
firearms.

2: Give Bad Gun Dealers Immunity

This will give sweeping legal immunity from lawsuits for Bull's Eye and
other gun manufacturers and dealers who are negligent.

This makes a lot of sense. Immunize Bull's Eye and take the right to
sue away from gun victims.

3: No Renewal of the Assault Weapons Ban

This measure will put military style rapid-fire assault weapons that
have been banned for the last ten years back on the street.

The NRA is out of control and at odd with the values of the American
people. Their hubris and bullying tactics will be their worst enemy.

See what we mean: 1) Visit our new NRA Leaders site by clicking here. 2)
Forward this e-mail to your friends, so they know too just how insane
the NRA has become.

Happy New Year,
Million Mom March

RESPONSE:

Dear Million Mom March-

Your newly unveiled venomous politics of personal destruction against
various NRA leaders (http://www.nraleaders.com/charlton-heston.html)
are filled with lies, and quotes taken out of context. This foolishness
is reprehensible from a group which I would expect to argue on the
merits of gun issues. I would be disgusted if the NRA attempted to dig
up similar dirt, (which probably could be found) on Brady Campaign
leaders and supporters and made similar wild allegations, far beyond
even the scant evidence used to defame the NRA people.

The attack on Charlton Heston is especially disgusting, as he was a
brave supporter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (when the other Hollywood
elites were NOT). To tarnish the reputation of a man suffering from
Alzheimers, when he cannot defend himself is shameful at best and
criminal slander at worst.

Juxtaposing comments by David Duke associating himself with Heston's
comments (if the comments you quote are even the ones he was referring
to) in an attempt to imply Heston somewhow endorsed David Duke's
positions is deceitful.

Based on this shameful garbage from the Million Mom March, I will no
longer support any of your positions, and must conclude that your
comments about the beneifts of gun control are no more truthful than
these despicable distortions.

I will be joining the NRA as soon as I can.

This is nothing but a rehashing of a hatchet-piece VPC did in 1996. http://www.vpc.org/press/9607pbla.htm

In any event, I've always found it interesting that it's a black man in the MMM Time Out Chair

From the MMM webpage:

Current U.S. Gun policies: Believe it or Not
http://www.nraleaders.com/state-of-affairs.html

1. Licensed gun dealers have no requirements to report multiple sales of long guns, like the semiautomatic assault style weapons sought by terrorist organizations. So someone can buy long guns by the hundreds and there is no requirement that these sales will be reported to law enforcement.

Every firearm purchased throughan FFL holder is reported to the Federal Government. The Patriot Act II allows the FBI to treat firearms transactions as financial transactions and submit a warrentless request for FFL records.

2. Licensed gun dealers have to report to federal law enforcement whenever someone buys two or more handguns in 5 business days. But if someone buys a gun, say, every six days the sales do not get reported.

Handguns are a legal product, why is reporting required to begin with. Traffickers won't follow any law and deal in far more than 4 guns a month.

3. Guns manufactured in the United States do not have to meet any federal consumer safety requirements -- unlike television sets, cribs, washing machines and toy guns, which do.

Outright lie. Firearms are subject to all the product liability tort law that other consumer products are.

4. The gun industry and the tobacco industry are the only US industries not subject to safety regulation by the Consumer Product Safety Commission or another federal agency.

Firearms are subject to regulation by the BATFE and innumerable State safety laws. What are these prople at MMM smoking?

5. The minimum age for handgun possession under federal law is 18.

So it would be OK for an 18 year old to vote and carry a service sidearm in the US Army but not own one as a private citizen?

6. Federal law permits juveniles under the age of 18 to possess long guns -- rifles and shotguns, including assault weapons and large capacity ammunition clips manufactured before 1994.

Posess, i.e., use and carry while hunting etc., not purchase or legally own in most States.

7. There are minimal regulations on the sale of ammunition. No dealer licenses, no background checks and no transfer records.

Soon to change when the States realize what a cash cow a per-round tax would be.

8. It is legally permissible to purchase .50 caliber sniper rifles. These can kill a person -- or hit an industrial target like an oil refinery -- a mile and a half away.

The MMM has a web page, exactly the same kind of web page that child pornographers use and terrorists use to send messages to kill innocent children. But the damned extremists in the 1st Amendment rights movement fight reasonable restrictions on web page publishing at every step!

9. Licensed gun dealers must be approved by and register with the federal government. But in most states, someone can be an unlicensed "private" seller of guns. A "private" seller has no obligation to conduct criminal background checks on buyers or keep transfer records for law enforcement - as long as he/she claims to be a "hobbyist" and is not "engaged in the business" of selling guns.

Exactly the same type of transaction Sarah Brady used when she bought a child-killing high-powered sniper rifle for her son's birthday. And BTW, sale or transfer of personal property is still legal in the US.

10. A "private" seller of guns can advertise and set up tables at a gun show or flea market right next to federally licensed gun dealers who must obey all the rules. Timothy McVeigh sold guns at gun shows as a "hobbyist." In one two-year period in the late 1990s, one fifth of all federal gun trafficking investigations involved unlicensed "private" sellers. On average, each of these "hobbyists" was involved with 75 gun sales.

75 gun sales at around $100 of profit for each or $7500 per year to risk selling to terrorists? Right, that makes sense. Both are "private sellers" but sellers at gun shows and traffickers are two different animals.

11. The Brady background law originally included a 5-day mandatory waiting period for handgun sales. Congress did not renew the waiting period.

The 5 day wait was predicated on it taking that long to complete the records search. The instant check that Congress authorized obviated that.

12. Today, licensed dealers are allowed to sell guns after three days even if a background check is not completed. As many as 5 percent of background checks are not complete within 3 days. During a 2 1/2 year period, more than 10,000 felons were able to buy guns because their background check was not completed in 3 days.

Outright lie. The figure of 10,000 has no basis in fact whatsoever.

13. Attorney General John Ashcroft has proposed requiring that the FBI destroy records of approved gun purchases within 24-48 hours of a completed background check. This prevents law enforcement from identifying whether a person under investigation for another crime, including terrorism, has purchased a firearm.

The law already requires that these records be destroyed.

14. Police can only trace a serial number back to the first retail sale of a new gun by a licensed gun dealer. Therefore, if someone buys a secondhand gun from a "private" seller, the gun can't be traced back to its illegal seller or the purchaser.

Registering all private sales wouldn't touch most of the firearms used in crime. They're usually stolen.

15. If federally licensed gun dealers fail to report stolen or missing guns, they generally face only misdemeanor charges even though thousands of guns are stolen annually from gun stores. The rifle used by the metro DC snipers was allegedly stolen from a gun store, the same store that "lost or misplaced" 238 guns in three years.

16. Gun owners are not required to report thefts of their guns to law enforcement. Nearly half a million guns are stolen annually.

500,00 guns stolen annually? Sounds high.

17. Common carriers -- like trucking companies -- do not have to report missing gun shipments.

All must report to the police in order to file an insurance claim.

18. Licensed dealers convicted of felonies may continue to conduct business through all appeals.

Lie, what if they're in prison after conviction?

19. No gun manufacturer has any policy restricting sales of their guns to dealers or wholesalers with a history of selling guns used in crime.

Lie, Bushmaster for example went well beyond what the law required in keeping tabs on their distributors.

20. Federal inspectors are barred from conducting surprise inspections of a gun dealer more than once a year and they have no power to impose fines or suspend licenses even if the inspectors have evidence that the dealer is continuing to sell guns that are used in crime.

Shut them down for selling guns used in crime? Isn't that like shutting down a car dealership that continues to sell cars used by drunk drivers?

12. Today, licensed dealers are allowed to sell guns after three days even if a background check is not completed. As many as 5 percent of background checks are not complete within 3 days. During a 2 1/2 year period, more than 10,000 felons were able to buy guns because their background check was not completed in 3 days.

Fun Fact: When my father went to purchase his first handgun 4 months ago, a felon with a similar name was found in the check. He could not come pick up the firearm until it was proven that he was not said felon. The NICS system works, and this paragraph is a complete fabrication.

MMM needs to hunt up the name "Marion Hammer". Last I heard, she's a lady. (Aside from her NRA position, she was instrumental in getting the Florida Lege to pass the state's CHL law.) I disremember the name of the other lady who also served a term as the NRA's Big Boss.

I think we all need to watch out for those gun-nut racists like... Dr. Condoleezza Rice.

"I am," she answered crisply, "a Second Amendment absolutist." Growing up in Birmingham, Ala., in the early 1960s, when racial tensions rose, there were, she said, occasions when the black community had to exercise its right to bear arms in self-defense, becoming, if you will, a well-regulated militia.

Typical redneck, no doubt. :neener:

And the first million mom march was in Poland in the late '30s and early '40s.

They were marched to Auschwitz, Dachau, Bergen-Belsen and other fun places.

:cuss:morons.:barf:

I wrote 'em two. Had to write the second one after Jimpeel provided that link.

First one:

Hello,

I was going to write a long missive to you rebutting most of your statements written in your latest emailiing. Statements like the one where the NRA wants the NICS check records to be destroyed in 24 hours instead of the 90 days allowed. Excuse me? You might read the law. Janet Reno illegally changed the holding of the records period to 90 days from the 24 hours that were supposed to be the standard for the checks to be held.
That's a fact.

As in so many things that anti-freedom, anti-self defense, anti-gun groups do, your so called "Million" mom outfit doesn't want to let the facts get in the way of your agenda.

Therefore, I won't bother to rebut the rest of your (slanted, twisted, spun, or plainly wrong) invective twaddle.

And the second one:

Hello again,

I wanted to add something to go along with my last email to you.

Here's something you might look at, it gives graphic representation of what you propose (basically, no civilian ownership of guns), leads to.

http://www.barefootsworld.net/1stmillionmom.html

If you have the courage to look, and think about what you will see here, don't think it can't happen again. It can, it has, it does, and it will again.

More people were killed by their own ligitimate governments in the 20th Century than by all the wars in the same century.

Those images make me sick. Some of those women were holding infants. They were murdered, slaughtered like livestock with Mad Cow disease. So were the children.

They, or their men, had been disarmed by their own government, eventually, this happened.

We here in America have one thing available to us that will never allow such a thing to happen here, the gunowners, via the 2nd Ammendment of the Bill of Rights. Do you care to gamble that such a horror cannot be visited on us if we go down the same road as Germany did in the 1930's? Do you dare?

God help us all if what you wish for comes to pass.
