MOA Of a Rock River Arms .308

The LAR-10 claims a 1.5inch MOA @ 100 yards. Is that good?

I didn't think they were out yet but....

most of it will be shooter and purpose. Want dime sized groups at 200 yards? 1.5 moa won't do it. Want to shoot small animals? there ya go.

1.5 moa is 1.5 inches at 100yds. That would be 7.5 inches at 500yds. 1.5 moa is pretty good, especially for a battle rifle. Most shooters can't even shoot that well, unless they use a rest. I'd hazard to say that in my experience none of the rack grade AR's, M1A's, FAL's or AK's will shoot better than 1.5 moa, with most being 2-3 moa. Keep in mind that ammo plays a large part in accuracy, a lot of the surplus stuff isn't even capable of less than 2 moa no matter what rifle.

Now I'll sit back and let the guys who shoot off the bench tell me different.

RRA is rare in that they put a minimum accuracy number on their gun. From what I've seen the guns usually shoot better than what is stated, and the measurement they use is often a safe to achieve bet.

The model with the 20'' barrel is supposed to shoot 1 MOA... if they're reliable I'll get one.

Only the 16in I believe is 1.5 the 26"SS barrel and the 20" are both listed as 1MOA . Can't wait till these things come out. Not suppossed to be in production till late Summer. Price appears to be very reasonable too. BTW if they are stateing 1in then with good ammo, good glass, and a capable shooter much better accuracy should be attainable. On arfcom there have been reports of the DPMS .308 SS shooting barely over .3MOA at 100yards. Basically one hole groups!

Anyone know how the RRA version will differ from the Bushmaster? The Bushmasters had problems, and I think they just used the RRA design. Has there been a design change to make them work better, or was Bushmaster doing something wrong?

sorry but, you dont know what moa is. "minute of angle" means just that, 1/60 of one degree. thats 21600 "moa" to make complete revoloution.

"The LAR-10 claims a 1.5inch MOA" saying this is like saying that rock river's moa is diffrent from others. you should have said something like... "rock river claims that The LAR-10 is a 1.5 moa gun"

waterhouse- RRA has a board over at ar15.com. they are doing very ver extensive testing to make sure there are no problems with the gun, and have also laid out some of the reasons Bushmaster had problems and failed to produce the sales.

At the shot show...

I got a chance to see some of the major AR builders. Bushmaster said 1.5 MOA on their rifles factory garauntee. Not stellar for the .223, but that was a maximum standard. RRA labels all their rifles with an MOA standard, and are by comparison very good, at least on paper. DPMS gave me an excuse.

RRA by far had the best garauntee out there, and for a battle rifle, 1.5 is plenty accurate. Remember that that's stock, so you can improve it with, say, handloads, aftermarket corrections and parts, a little gunsmithing, you get the idea.

And this may be irrelevant, but they also have the best dealer prices going, last time I checked.

Low-sci, RRA's dealer price is better than Bushmaster, but not nearly as good as DPMS.

So far my DPMS AR-10 has functioned flawlessly and is priced really well compared to the Armalite or RRA. I love my RRA AR-15 though. I bet RRA makes a solid AR-10.
