Model 10, Go New or Used?

You guys are all making me feel pretty good about the 10-5 I picked up a few days ago for $250. Tapered barrel, square butt. Nice lock up with some wear in the bluing and after market stocks. Shoots real nice too! My first S&W of any type. Judging by what I received for what I paid I'd say used is definitely the way to go. I'll try to get some pictures to post if anybody is interested.

Looks very nice and it has the one quality all firearms shouldn't have: a lock!

I cannot bring myself to purchase a S&W with the lock if there is an earlier model available. I might cave for a 500 though, found a nice 4" used that I am DROOLING over.

I have a 1964 (I believe) S&W Model 10-5 2" snubbie in excellent condition, that was left to me by my late father. Are you telling me it's worth $400.00? Not that I would ever sell it. My wfe shot it the other day and told me to put her 38 airweight in the safe, the Mod.10 was her new go-to gun!
