I sold my Jframe model 60 S&W to fund a gun that everyone said I should get, and I love love my new G17 but after 2 mths I've realized that I miss my dependable friend. I want to buy my friend back but she's gone. I want her back, has this happened to any of you, please tell me I'm not the only one

You have to buy a new one pilgrim. Or like everyone else says,,,,,,,,S#$%^^^^^@@@@@ happens.

Yup, been there, done that. I only did it once though. I had a 6.5" 22LR/mag Heritage Rough Rider combo that was an inexpensive, fun plinking gun that I didn't mind taking out to plink and just wiping it down (no cleaning) at the end of the day. Then I traded it (got $80 for it) on a Taurus 94 that turned out to be a lemon. Banged my head against the wall for years after, until I aquired another Heritage, this one a 5.5" example. All is right with the world, once again!

Sounds like you must do the same. Live and learn I guess. I have sold a few other guns, but only because I flat did not like them and I replaced them with something I liked better, for example a Springfield XD for a 1911, a Taurus 94 for a S&W K-22 and an AK for an AR. Once in a while I miss the AK, but then I remind myself that I like shooting the SKS much better and I'm cool.

Only once, as I needed the money at the time and sold it to a friend. I knew by selling this one gun, I could get more money for it than trying to sell three or four others. The one smart thing I did was I asked for (and got), the right of first refusal if he ever thought about selling or trading it some day. Well a number of years later I had another gun that he was really interested in so we worked out a deal and I got my gun back.

I once traded my Ruger Single-Six to a friend, along with some cash, for a Colt King Cobra. The Ruger was my first handgun, and had been a gift from my dad when I was about 13. Shortly after the trade, I started getting a huge case of the regrets. Just my luck, my fickle friend had already traded the Ruger in on something new at Gander Mt! Luckily, when I made it to the store, the gun was still in the display case. I was able to buy it back, and even got back the Bianchi holster I had for it. Costly lesson, but I have been very careful about parting with guns ever since.

This happened about 20 years ago. I only recently told my dad about it:eek:

I have always traded firearms, never sold them, I probably miss some of the Colts, that I swapped, now that they have gotten so unaffordable. An example, 2 1/2" Diamondback .22. Have you priced them lately?

I know it's a quirk, but my M60 must've been built at the end of a machine run.

My gunsmith apologized when he gave it back to me and said "that's the best I could do".

I traded it for a homely Colt Agent which I refinished.

When I offered the M60 in trade at a gunshow, the dealer must have thought he had really found a sucker.

Hasn't happened to me.

I've let go of alot, but if I even THINK I'll regret it, I've hung onto it.

I've got alot of guns I havn't shot in a long time... but they are there if I want to!

Regrets?

2 Browning Belgium Made Hi-Powers, now illegal in Kali with the big magazines.
3 Mac 10's, .380, 9mm, and 45 ACP, sold when I moved, thought I could always buy them again, now illegal in Kali.
2 M1A Supermatchgrades. Had a chance to buy and passed. now 3 times the money.
2 AR 15s, super match grades, same story as M1A's.
Detonics Combatmaster Mark VII, and two Mark VI's.
Sold to a friend. Managed to replace one Mark VI at twice the cost.
A CZ 550 .375 H&H, bought one, but wish I'd bought the other one for a .458.
Most recent Colt Trooper Mark III that I had tricked out, traded it for a 252 Freedom Arms, that turned out to be so tight, I sold that at a profit.
Still, wish I had the Colt Trooper, and, unless I move to a free state, that's not likely.
