Two good ones

Out of all the guns I own, my cheap little Model 10 pencil barrel is one of my faviorites and lately is my most fired gun. For general shooting enjoyment, there is nothing like a .38 Special unless it is a .22LR. Cheap and easy to handload in quantity.
I have four Model 10s: two heavy barrels, one nice commercial blue like yours, one matte police surplus gun. Two skinny barrels. One that has been refinished with a bright blue, the other nickel.
I also have a Model 36, and a Model 60. They are the king of the snubbies.

What I need now is some nice stocks for them. I generally love beautiful wood, but on my blue model 10 skinny barrel I have a set of Hogue rubber grips that feel perfect in my hand. My 36 doesn't have any stocks on it at all right now.

When I get to the range, I've got some new tech guns in the bag. The Glock 19 and 23, and little KelTec 9mm. Polymer frames, relatively high capacity to size ratio, etc.

But every range trip also consists of shooting 100-150 .38 spl rounds thru a S&W M64 4" and a smooth-as-silk Rossi snub.

Best grouping range gun: M64. Daily carry: .38 snub.

Never get tired of the blued steel/wood grip revolver pics-keep 'em coming! Your 10 and 36 are like littermates-you gotta keep them together!

ohh, NO!

How can you mix the "2 best of the american gun making" with that little POS of polymer and zinc???

Model 10 and 36 , great guns ceestand, two of my favorites as well.
Something about a great design, blue and wood, thanks for sharing and posting pics.

Polymer guns have a place , I own one, will be my last. I suggest folks buy all the polymer, high tech, bling bling guns they can. I suggest they don't look at the old "antiquated" gun cases. Stay away from that case. They must have the latest greatest guns .

I don't want them to discover what many of us know, and buy up any of the old smith's . I may be selfish, or sly as fox...:)

I didn't think the heavy barrel came with the square butt on the 10?

Didn't they standardize on round-butt by that time?

Not a problem of course, if you like that grip type :).

Thanks guys.

The grips on both of them are some junky (what seems like pressed wood) deals I picked up from CDNN - total cost for both sets was less than $15. The grip screw on the 36 is about a 1/4 inch too long and Home Despot doesn't carry a suitable replacement, so I'm still looking. The grip on the 36 is also poorly manufatured and shakes when installed. I solved that by placing some rubber cut from an inner tube inside. That should tell you about the quality of the grips. I'm still happy though. :D Both are comfortable for me. I don't know who made them.

The P22 is just an okay gun. I wanted a .22 for my first pistol and found most others unacceptable for one reason or another.

I'm looking for a 3" .38 to complete the set.
