Hi guys I have a S & W model 12 and I'm thinking about exchanging it for a model 36. The model 12 is 6 shot and a large frame and the 36 is smaller and 5 shot. What do you think about this trade?

It depends upon why you want to make the trade. J-frame guns are more recoil-heavy than K-frame ones, but hide a bit better.

Depending on condition, the model 12 is probably much more collectable than the 36, and worth more.

The reason I want to make the trade is because I'm getting my ccw permit in a couple of weeks and the model 12 is too big to conceal.

I've been looking at a model 36 or 49 myself for CCW. I believe them to be great guns for the task for which they were designed (personal defense). I've carried a 230 for ccw for many years, but am in the process of "moving up"

If you can get a 36, it is certainly a worthy gun, but I wouldn't trade what you have for it.. Yours if more valuable.

What the heck am I sayin' here??

Scratch whut I sed up there.. I just happen to have this beeutiful leetle 36 gem whut I got from a leetle ol Granny that carried that gun to Sunday school in her 1953 Plymouth until just last weekend.

I would do you a favor as a new CCW'er and trade this gem for that huge ol Mdl 12 of yours and make us both happy.

Gimme a call at Iggy's Cattle Emporium and Gunshop. 555-Hooey!!

I'd rather have the smaller all steel gun, just my 2cents :)

First thing Tuesday morning. The gun shop doesn't open neither Sunday or Monday. But the employee is holding it for me. If I decide to sell the model 12 cheap, would you be interested?

Jolly good show ol chap!!

You hang on to it for a while until you can make a valid comparison between the J-frame and the K-frame.

You may decide you don't want to part with it.:)

After that, we can talk. ;)

I carry my model 36 every day. The problem with my 1911 & S&W K, is i get tired of luging them around. I like to have my gun with me all the time.:)

I have a 1911 full size and a Glock 17 but both of them are too heavy so I plan to carry the model 36 or my Glock 26.

I wanted a model 60 but the gun shop wanted $385 for a used one and I'm getting the model 36 for $185.

I just opened the side plate of the model 12 because the trigger got stuck in the back position (never happened before) and it was dirty as hell. I think no one had ever opened that revolver. Some solvent and oil and is better than new.

I bought a Model 36 -3" a couple of months ago and really have been very pleased. I really love the color case frame.

My buddy bought a Ruger SP101 at the same time and I have fire both. I much prefer my S&W.

I'm about to order a Hogue grip for it. The stock service grip is too small for my hands.

Well, I bought the model 36 today. Its a great shooter. I hit the center of the paper more than 20 times one after the other at 25 feet. The model 12 is for sale. I've never hit the center of the paper with it hehe. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
