Good Afternoon,

After years of trying, I have finally escaped the state of California. I have since bought a real S&W MP-15, However, I now face a new problem, I still own the Bushmaster Carbon 15 CA legal Ar-15 (with the sealed magwell) that I purchased when I lived in CA. Since I know live in the great state of Indiana, where owning an AR that accepts a 30 rounds mag is legal, would it be Legal for me to unseal the magwell on my CA legal AR with a dremel or some other tool, so that it can accept a 30 round mag? I know I could go out and buy a new lower, but I am just wondering if there are any laws that state that this could not be done.

Thanks.
Jimmy

If it's legal in its final form in your state then no problem hacking it up. But for goodness sake just go buy a new lower for $75 and sell you old lower back into CA.

I doubt there'd be anyone in CA who'd buy a sealed magwell AR, since there are way better options available now, (mag locks, Hammerhead grip), but I'd put it on Calguns.net in the marketplace there and see who would want it.

How do they seal the mag well? Do they well or pin a plate over it? I saw a few when I lived back in CA, but never really handled them. I'm not a guy who wants to handle a gimped AR.

I think it is legal to do, but I would contact the manufacturer if you are able to. The bullet button has really made these lowers worthless in CA so you might as well try to hack it up or just get a new one.
