I pick up a lot of brass at the range. Usually I grab the boxes as well. Last week there was a ton of 300 win mag brass but I forgot to check the trash for the boxes. I've used the mtm slip top boxes before but in 300 win mag they are really just too tall. I could have just put a piece of foam in the top but I didn't have any handy. So, I got a small chisel and took about 3/8 of an inch off the little ridge inside the lid that acts as a stop for the lid. Then, I trimmed the lid down by 1/2 inch using a cutoff wheel on the dremel tool. I cleaned up the cut on the belt sander and Shazam! Now empty cases won't spill out of their cells in the box and loaded rounds don't flop around in the box so much. Probably takes about 10 minutes per box.
