I took my wife to my gun club last week for the first time. She had a blast.:D She shot my .44 spl. revolver, 9 mm, .32, 22 pistols. She also tried my new SKS and AR-15 M4. She loved the M4 (knocked down bowling pins at 100 yards for her first time shoting a rifle). As you noticed, these are all MY weapons. She has cought the bug and wants her own pistol. She liked my CZ-50 the best. I wanted her to get a .38 spl. but she wants a pistol. What do you all think??? I'll show her the results. Thanks.

Excellent!

Let her get whatever she wants to learn on -- just like you did when you were first starting out.

No matter how steep the learning curve, a new shooter is more likely to hike up it when it is about a gun she really *WANTS* to shoot.

She has an idea of what she wants so why should she care what you think she should have. This purchase is for her and not you.

Get her exactly what she wants, even if it's that hideous USP with flowers on it (don't have a pic handy, surely someone knows what I"m talking about). Get her what she wants as the bait.....soon enough, if you're lucky, you'll have her hook, line, and sinker, and can reason with her for more guns for more situations.

Don't say "this makes the most sense", get her what she wants, and she'll be happy. As the saying goes...."If momma happy, e'rybody happy. If momma ain't happy....."

It's a no brainer my friend. Buy her what she wants. If she changes her mind, buy her what ever she wants then. Keep Momma happy. Trust me. :)

Get her what she wants

Anyone, man, woman, kids, or adults are more likely to keep shooting if they are having fun, and part of having fun is shooting "your gun"... as in the one that you picked out.

If she likes the gun she will shoot the gun. As you know that's the only way to become proficient at shooting.

As everyone else in this thread has already said, let her shoot whatever she wants to shoot.

I've learned what everyone else has said, let her pick what suits her - but advise her on what is quality and what should be given a pass.

If she wants it, get it. CZ 50s/70s are pretty cheap... though she might prefer the CZ 83 to it.
If you do end up with the 70, I'd get it nickelled. High humidity really gets the rust a-growing for mine.

Buy her what you want, if she don't like it buy her the next thing you want until she gets what she likes. This is a easy way to fill the safe.:D

I did what ya'll said and let her pick her own gun. Well she picked a good one. It's a Walter PPK/S 380 SS ARISTOCRAT with rosewood grips, Talo Exclusive laser engraved by Baron Tech with German style scroll engraving, with red dot sights.:banghead: Thanks guys, I've created a gun addicit.

Congrats! It's not a bad thing when your wife is into guns too.
I remember the first time my wife (girlfriend at the time) handled a gun. It was a .22 rifle and she looked at my like "you want me to do what?" She shot it anyway and had a good time.

Now when I come home with something new she looks it over and if she likes it then she lays claim to it. She likes stainless so when I brought home my Kimber Gold Match Stainless she claimed it.

Her carry gun is a neat little "pimped" Colt Detective Special:

Be happy

Yes, be happy that you have a wife that is interested in shooting. I have tried with mine but she has an unreasonable fear and will not even touch a gun (except to dump a Mosin against an original Ruger 10-22 with International Stock scratching it up horribly). :what:

The Doc is out now.

When my wife was interested in her first gun, I threw a stack of gun mags with pages marked on some great reviews. We went to a gun show and she said, "Find a CZ-P01." We found one and left with it.

I have a serious case of new-gun-itis and have bought, sold, traded through 10-12 different guns. I always hear, "It's not as good as my P-01. I will never get rid of my gun".

Get her what she wants and don't let some jack### gun store salesman try to push a "ladies' gun" at her. Or worse, act like she doesn't really know what she wants or try to imply she can't handle anything she wants. We've found, on more than one instance, that some salesmen (and women) can be quite condescending to first time buyers, expecially women. If it happens, we tell them why we are leaving and find another store.
