Ok, so if you don’t watch Monster Garage™ on Discovery channel, this may not make sense- the premise of Monster Garage™ is very simple; a crew of hot rodders and motorcycle fabricators are given the challenge to transform a stock vehicle into something else (Example: a Porsche 914 into a driving range golf ball collector…) ok, stick with me here… anyway, the team of gear heads have seven days to complete their challenge, and if they make it they get $3400 worth of Snap-On™ tools.

Sweet.

If they don’t meet the challenge, they get nothing.

Well, they had a new episode this Monday night (make a NO2 sand rail out of a Mazda RX-7) and they FAILED…

So the head engineer (gearhead named Jesse James believe it or not) drives up in a Chevy Suburban with a roof mounted (I ---- you not) minigun!!! (Courtesy of Mike Dillion (we’re not worth!! We’re not worthy!!) and proceeds to blow the hell out of the failed project car.

And I mean, Swiss cheesed the thing. Absolutely amazing.

I really hope someone else besides me saw this, as I didn’t have the tape machine going and if no one else saw this… no one will ever believe me.

Monster Garage is a great show.
I missed it tonight though. Darn you Colin Quinn and your Tough Crowd! I think it will air again later tonight for the night owels.

Damnit, someone get some video of it and put it up online. Must see...

In addition to the miniguns, quad .50s, and dozens (hundreds?) of full autos he has, Mike Dillion has some old fighter planes with weapons mounted on them too. He does straffing runs on targets on a huge chunk of desert he owns. OMG that is awesome... American Shooter had a special on him and his insane collection.

Hey, I saw Jesse James of Monster Garage shoot up a car tonight. Monster Garage is so cool! They were trying to convert a sports car into a dune or sand buggy. It was a failure so Jesse got rid of it "FullAuto " style.

Yes, I saw it
Yelled at my son to turn on his TV, but he was already asleep.
I'm glad others watched or I would have a hard time describing it. I can't even guess how many rounds went into that car.
Did Jesse wear hearing protection?

Was it me just me? or did it appear as if the windshield was melting? Oh man... that was great. I was bbqing some steak for my dad.... i ALMOST had to sacrafice the steak so not miss any of the shooting up the the RX-7. But having a peferctly over cooked steak won (anyting more than med rare is over cooked)

I am surprised that only 2 teams have failed and really... this sandrail team didn't really fail... i mean the snowmobile team didn't build a ride that beat out richard petty in the snow mobile. and how was the lawn mower team really gonna lose? that race was more speed and grass cutting

Saw the show!!!!!

I was drooling so much I looked like a St Bernard!!!!!!!

I want one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That definatly was impressive. Would have liked to know how many rounds though. 3000 rounds per miniute.

this sandrail team didn't really fail

I didn't quite get that either. The build team built what the design team conceived, so I don't see why the build team should be penalized over the design (of course, I confess I came in on the episode late. Did I miss something important that p.o.d Jesse about the project?)

Supposedly it "failed" because it didn’t win the race. I think it was an excuse to shoot something with a minigun, which was good enough for me. After all it is entertainment, not a real contest.

Were those tracers every fifth round? They looked like a solid line during the night fire.

I wondered about hearing protection to. Maybe J.J. is already deaf.

That was indeed impressive. I was stunned when he went over to claim a piece of the car and there were so many holes in it you could literally look through the car.

I suspect you're right. If Dillon handed me a minigun and said have at it, I'd make sure the project "lost" as well.

Wow – that’s so cool that so many THRs saw it too, I guess it makes sense though; of you’re a fan of things that go BOOM and have recoil, you’d probably be a fan of things that go VROOM and have torque.

And, yes, that car was absolutely SIEVED! It looked like if they tried to pick it up with a forklift or something, it would have just fallen apart. Awesome.

I saw some of the show the first time it was on, so of course I watched the replay later. Bad thing Mail Call was on the first time so I didn't get to see all of the show the first time. Mail Call rocks, I try to catch it every week. I'd like to see what JJ and his MG buddies could do for target on the Dillion range. They do have some pics up on the MG web page. And like you guys I think the car worked, hope the gang got the tools, but the end sure was better with the Mini.
