Montana Gold bullets

I am a new reloader and have successfully loaded my first batch of .45ACP Hornady XTP bullets behind 5.8gr of Unique and Federal LP primers. Accuracy was also excellent.

I don't really want to use Hornady XTP bullets costing $24.99/100 for range use. A local gunstore is selling Montana Gold bullets .45 ACP FMJ for $15.99/100. I would like to use these for range use. My reloading manual has no load information on this bullet. Since it practically weighs as much as the Hornady XTP, can I go with the present load for this bullet?

Back off a couple tenths and work back up, but yea, with a MG 230 Gr RN at 1.265 O.A.L. with 5.8 Grs of Unique you should be fine. Not even max.

Luv the FMJ bullets but for range use, plinking etc., you can't beat the 230gr RN lead bullet. Whole lot cheaper too.

The only RN MG shows on their web page is 230 Gr, so I assumed that.

5.8 Grs of Unique is safe with a 230 Gr, and even more so with a lighter bullet.

I use Montana Gold bullets and find that they perform almost exactly the same as Hornady bullets in the same configuration. I load them to the max for my 9mm and have no issues whatever.

I've used montana gold in several calibers and have been pleased. Never had a problem with them and will use them in the future.

I have used Montana Gold bullets as my designated match bullets with very happy and accurate results.

Although they are brass jacketed, I treat them like copper jacketed bullets when I reload them.

I do the same as bds, and especially with 124 9mm HPs. They are accurate and load to speed with light powder.

I've also had good luck with the 124CMJs, but they required more powder for the same speed.

I wont say it for sure now, but when I ordered last from RMR(LongDayJake) his prices for 125gr 357mag bullets was CHEAPER than ordering them directly from Montana Gold.

I've been shooting his 125 grain jhp and php in my new 357 Blackhawk and I'm liking the results. Jacob says to treat his plated bullets like jacketed and that's what I've been doing.

I'm still trying to figure out just how much you can compress 2400 and keep a bullet stuffed in the case.

I dont have any 230 fmj available at the moment but my plated bullets will work for pretty much anything but full auto stuff.
