I'm a few years out of date on Montana guns shows and as such was a little disappointed by the Missoula gun show this weekend. If I remember right the Great Falls show next weekend is the big one for the state, is that right?

What was disappointing about the Missoula show was that I had a very specific shopping list and did not find anything on it in any condition: Garand Multitool, garand buttstock cleaning kit (to have, not to use), appropriate sling, and some of those little grease pots. The stock has those holes, ought to put something in them! There has always been at least one military collector guy at every gun show I have gone to that has bins and bins of surplus stuff like that.

I did have a good time over all, bought some .223 and .41 mag factory ammo and fondled a M&P .40 I haven't yet convinced myself to buy. I was just amazed about the lack of surplus stuff. On a positive note there was no nazi/aryan nation junk either. The required tables for beef jerky, beanie babies (not sure if there were really beanie babies, it just sounds good), jewelry and magnetic healing trinkets were there.

Anyone know if the Great Falls show has a better chance of having what I am looking for? I can always do a road trip and visit the parents. I haven't been to that show in a decade since I lived there but remember it being enormous.

I was stationed up at Malmstrom way back when before gun shows had been invented. Didn't matter as I didn't have any money anyway...:(

Don't know about Great Falls gun shows but Billings shows have been going downhill for some time now. :barf: Haven't even bothered for a year or more.

I was thinking about getting up to the Missoula show in August or so as I understood it was about 7-900 tables and pretty good. But that may be all lies for all I know...

If you are looking for Garand stuff try www.jouster.com and their classifieds. Lots of odds and ends there, and knowledgeable people. :)

I picked up some 5.56x45 and a couple of magpul p-mags to put it in...

and a nice sweater.

It wasn't a bad show, but it wasn't great either.

I didn't go to this one yet. We MAY go to it today, Sunday. I don't go to too many gun shows. I go to more gun stores. It seems that when a show is on... we are gone, he is working (24/7 type of office job.) or something ELSE is going on.

Have you been to the big ones @ the Adams Center before? I have been to that one twice. I did not buy anything but it was a nice/big show.

Have a nice day - it is snowing out now.

Catherine

I've got a 16" barreled winchester 30-30 that I bought from an older gentleman at the adams center last summer.

His words of advice were, "Now... don't try to shoot anything TOO big with it."
