I guess, I had two problems and only fixed one. First, it was this http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=478771 SA was first rate!

I thought that would fix all my problems. Guess again.

Problem #2. When I attempt to eject an unfired round, I pull back on the slide. The back of the case hits the ejector and STOPS!! The round gets jammed in the ejection port. I can't pull it back and it won't eject it. WTH??

Here's a pic of the ejector and the extractor. :banghead: I'm ready to throw this thing off a very tall bridge.

You have an extended ejector on the frame. What is happening is the unfired round is a little too long to eject cleanly from the pistol and the bullet is hitting the inside of the slide.

Don't work the slide too hard and fast when that happens or you could set off the round by beating the primer against the ejector. Look at a modern Colt pistol and you'll notice a slight relief at the front of the ejection port to prevent this. Try dropping the mag and see if that helps.

Also looking at the ejector, it appears like the front is angled down, not upward. This would aggravate the problem by forcing the round down, not up and and to the side where the port is larger and the angle would yield a bigger "ejection window". You can call SA and do the return thing again, or have the ejector tuned to get the unfire round out of the slide smoothly and safely.

Incidently, did the pistol stop locking up as indicated in the last post of the thread indicated above?

I agree with Magnumite, that ejector length and profile is not going to let you eject loaded rounds. Most 1911s will barely allow ejection of loaded rounds, especially by hand. It's trying to pivot the round out of the port before the slide is far enough back to allow a big enough opening. I used to run into this problem a lot when installing extended ejectors on some brands of 1911, especially Colts.

This seems to me to be one of those "which came first" scenarios. I've fired at least 2500 rounds through this pistol with no issues. Then, the extracting unfired rounds issues started. When disassembling the pistol, I found the broken feet (foot?) on the barrel.

SA replaced the barrel and I can see where they milled the frame. I had hoped it would have fixed both problems. It didn't. It never occured to me the issues were seperate problems....

The ejector and extractor are original pieces and worked flawlessly prior to my current issues. Could the ejector angle have been caused by the broken barrel?

Magnumite, You asked if the pistol stopped locking up as indicated in the last post of the thread indicated above? I think so or, should I say, I hope so. :scrutiny: I used a brass brush to scrub the barrel chamber. I took it to the range and fired about 100 rounds. It went 80 rounds with no issues. BUT! I didn't try ejecting an unfired round. :banghead:

Also, dropping the magazine before trying to eject the live round made the problem worse. It seemed any rounds left in the mag helped push the round out. But, I never had that issue before. It ejected the unfired round without a problem.

I guess I'll be calling SA again today.

Thank you, Dave

if they milled your frame whven they replade the barrel, or the new barrel has other dimensions, the barrelhood may interfere with ejection of a loaded round.

the correct way to cure this will be removing metal from the front of the ejector, or replacing it with a shorter one, both are relatively easy if you know how.

The ejection problem started before the new barrel was installed.

I've contacted SA and they have sent me a FedEx pickup label. Back it goes....

I got my gun back on Wednesday. The repair slip says they recut the ejection port.

They also refinished the frame and the slide and included a free mag!!

The gun looks brand new. Tomorrow, I'll find out if it shoots.
