In looking at the new generation of AR15 rifles I have seen these new companies come up on the radar. Yankee Hill Machine, LWRC & Daniel Defense. All they as good or better than the RRA, Bushy and the LMT. Thanks in advance for the info

Well... Rock River and Bushmaster are commonly understood to be on the bottom of the list. It's the little things like gas key staking and MPI bolt inspections that they skip on. LMT and Yankee Hill are up there. I've heard good things about Daniel Defense but have never heard of LWRC.

I'm not saying Bushmaster and Rock River are horrible but there are better ones for the money, like Colt or Smith and Wesson.

These are my opinions of course. For some serious reading go to http://www.ar15.com or http://www.m4carbine.net

I was looking for an AR recently, as I can't practice with the issued weapons on my own time.

I went with a Colt 6920 from the Individual Officer Purchase Program. If you are a LEO, go to the Colt L.E. website and look around. They have links to distributors that deal in LEO only stuff.

If you're not a LEO, while Colt is the pinnacle, IMHO, there are others that are as good, or almost as good. LMT and CMMG rank up there with Colt from all I've read and people whose opinion I value and trust.

Good luck in your search. Unless you can get a screaming deal on an AR, now is not the time to buy. I'd wait about a year, and buy a bunch of magazines in the meantime, along with ammo. Then, you will find some out of work guy or gal that has to pay his or her bills and will let the AR go for a song.

My LWRC is an excellent AR, the piston design has worked like a champ. With the suppressor the noticed reduced fouling is great. Runs cooler and with over 1,000 rounds through it not any problems and accuracy is excellent even out of the 10.5 barrel. Of course the cost for the piston upper is around 1,400.00. For the best overall I recommend the LMT. Even compared to the Colt the LMT is real quality. Barrel twist on the LMT give better performance with heavier bullets. The Colt Program mentioned, did you get the rifle delivered yet. We had a lot of guys order them 4 or 5 months ago, and Colt has not delivered and may cancel the orders. The best part about the Colt is the resale. People seen to pay more for the "horsey" on the side, but I believe the LMT to be a better quality AR. Bushmaster is a "good" product and the company will stand behind them. I would stay away from Rock River, unless that was the only thing available.

A comment like that steers me to believe that your trigger finger has spent more time on a keyboard in one day, than it's lifetime total on a trigger!

LMT is one of the top end AR's out there. Daniel Defense is decent from what I've heard. I dont know much about LWRC.

Thank you! You took the words right out of my fingers!

Then you need to read everything I said about them. I said they put less effort put into their manufacturing. I didn't say a damned thing about their accuracy or potential long term quality. I simply implied that they don't get the best chance at success in life from the start.

Further more, I don't see how you can imply that I spend "more time on a keyboard" when I simply speak of the manufacturing of these rifles, not anyone's ability to shoot one. Neither of those comments left TexasED any useful or factual information. They we're just unwarranted, cheap shots at me for no apparent reason. And even if I did "spend more time on a keyboard" that doesn't make my post any less true.
