AmericanThinker article touts guns as gifts.

I regularly read (and contribute to) both THR and AmericanThinker.com (although my contributions to the latter -- not under a pseudonym -- get more prominent placement and are more widely-quoted. But I write for AT on topics that are verboten here).

But when I read something like this
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2011/12/warm_fuzzy_on_target.html
I'm sometimes not sure, for a moment, which site I'm reading!

Excerpt:
This year it may be that the only thing that says "I care" more than a Glock or an AR-15 would be the lessons at the gun range included in the package.

Moderators: I'm posting this because, in keeping with the THR guidelines, I believe it is "firearms-centric" and illustrates that gun ownership and RKBA awareness is (at last!) coming back into the "mainstream".

I got a gun for Christmas (early, but still), my son got a gun for Christmas from his Grandad, my wife got a gun for Christmas from her Dad, my niece got a gun for Christmas from here Grandad, my nephew got a gun for Christmas from his Grandad...to make a long story short, Grandad bought everybody a gun for Christmas (except mine....my wife bought mine, and gave it to me early)

The Guns:

My wifes is a Win 94 30-30 (old one, excellent condition....I'm a lil jealous)
niece: Cricket 22
nephew: Savage 243
my son: a Braztech 22/410
Mine: Winchester model 70 Ultimate Shadow in 30-06
my other son: bought his own, same as mine

My birthday is December 20th and I'm hoping for a High Standard Flite King in a 20 gauge. If not I'll buy it myself. Lol

I asked for a Gen 4 Glock 23 for Christmas, my mom (never has been comfortable with guns) decided that a handgun wasn't and will never be an appropriate present for a parent to give to their child even though I'm 21 and have my KY CCDW. I got a new Marlin .30-30 for my 21st Birthday though and she was OK with that since it was for hunting and not defense, it slayed it's first deer on Thanksgiving.

I can't think of a reason why a parent would not want to provide their child with a means to protect him/herself but I wasn't really in a position to argue (Doesn't matter how right I am, she'll just get mad and that does me no good) so I'll buy it myself a few weeks after Christmas when I get my academic bonus from work in mid-January.

Until last year there hadn't been a gun under my Christmas tree since I was a kid. This time it was my turn to give a gun to my dad. (CZ 452). I thought about giving him a Browning Hi-Power this year, but that is about twice as much as the CZ and I already spent a ton on a computer for my mom.

I got my daughter a stainless 10/22 with a nice aftermarket stock. Brother in law is getting a 870 tactical. We collectively got my father in law a nice used Belgium Browning 22 Takedown. Maybe I will get a hunting trip....
