Here is a pic of one of my shiny .38 Supers. This one is a RIA and is sporting some Water Buffalo grips made by Vu Kim Son. I just received them yesterday and had a short two week wait from Viet Nam to North Carolina.

I like'em!

Fantastic looking grips. Water buffalo? Very cool.

What's the finish on the gun? I'm guessing polished hard chrome.

Your guess was a good one. The gun has the RIA factory finish...polished hardchrome. The newer shiny RIA's (had one but sold it) are supposedly nickel.

C&L I replied to you on your other post, but could you post a pic, or describe the thickness of these grips?
They look fantastic, but they also look really thick.

They are not thick...I can't stand thick grips on 1911's. I usually have to take 20 pics to maybe get one good one, so I didn't drag the camera back out.

They feel perfect in my hand regarding thickness. I've seen other post where people thought about getting the thin ones Kimson offers. When they received them, they were glad they got the standard thickness ones and not the thin.

I did mic three 1911's and their thickness thru the grips (on the guns).

The Kimson on the pictured RIA measures 1.342" thick

A Colt with factory smooth wood grips measured 1.357" thick

Another Colt with factory checkered grips measured 1.268" thick

That's just a .074 difference between the Kimson ones and the thinnest Colt ones. Betcha can't feel that difference in your hand...I can't.

I like the way that looks, but I have a question,

How did you get your dog to sit still while you took those pictures?:D
