Took the kids out to play today! First time with the 329 and only the second chance to shoot the Flattop. The Ruger, well, it’s a slice of Heaven on Earth. It wads up the 250 Keith SWC and is very pleasant. Just love this revolver.
Now, the 329PD....

Left is top of recoil with 250grn Keith in special case (Skeeter load) right is 240grn JSP magnum factory load !

I love it too, when used with discretion. It is a dream with the Skeeter loads. Could shoot it all day long. The moderate magnum loaded with 250grn Keith over 9.5grn Unique were not too bad, and, at least for today, the most accurate load I ran through the Smith. As for “standard magnum” factory loads.....hard pass! Picture shows the Tale of Two Ca’tridges. Full recoil for both Skeeters(left) and Magnums (right). Even with the VZ grips (which I thoroughly enjoy) the recoil was manageable, just not enjoyable with the factory loads.
I did take into consideration reports of heavy bullets jumping the crimp in the light weight 329. I took 50 rounds crimped with the Lee Carbide FCD and 50 with my standard crimp. Standard crimp slipped and FCD did not. So the standards got shot the Flattop and FCD in the 329. No problems.
It was a great morning to be alive and a Free American!
Thank you and God Bless to those who gave all that we may still be free!

Beautiful 329. Just a "little" recoil with those factory loads, I see.
What grips are those on the 329? They look sweet!

I always use a FCD, but I also have the Collet Crimp die if the FCD isn't enough. So far the FCD has been adequate.
