Moron at UPS

my wife went to ship an HK91 i sold this morning and the idiot at UPS told her she couldnt send the mags w/ the gun.
when she asked why the lady said it would be too easy for someone to use it if it were stolen.
i am going in the morning to find out how they remember to breath up there and exactly how i can ship a double BBL shotgun.

Easy solution - just go to a different customer service center, or use a different courier altogether. Don't bother with trying to argue with them.

U.P.S. seems to have developed a decidedly bad attitude toward law-abiding American citizens in recent years. I've been much happier with Federal Express and Airborne Express.

I know for a fact that that was not UPS policy, should have asked for a supervisor.

UPS is overall a good company BUT recently (clinton administration) they have been a huge target for government lawsuits(big company large deep pockets).

UPS was strong armed by the ATF resulting in the shipping of firearms overnight only. and regularly try to intimidate UPS employees into performing warrantless searches.

The IRS recently fined UPS 4 billion dollars for carrying thier own insurance was found innocent of all charges but the govt will not release the money.

The DEA and ATF make surprise raids on UPS facilites to make sure all I's are dotted and T's are crossed.

Its a shame but all this negative attention has made UPS kneejerk some stupid policies and made them gun shy.

Contact and complain. I did that last time they gave me trouble when I went to ship a handgun to a gunsmith after work. I called them as soon as I got back to the house. The next morning, I had a call from the day supervisor who was all apologetic. That night I got another call, this time from the night supervisor (the one who gave me trouble) who was also all apologetic.

Even if you don't go back and deal with them, I think the butt chewing will do them some good and teach them not to with gunowners.

I agree on FedEx but last week Airborne Express was bought gy DHL. And DHL is owned by the German Postal Service. They might give good service but I will not use the services of a company that is opposed to the US doing what is right in the Middle East.

I sent Fedex...you'd think I was shipping a bomb. They asked me what it was, which I was up front about and God did she freak. She said I had to remove the firing pin. Sorry folks, maybe I'm a little dense, I told her I'm not a gunsmith and I don't know where that is. Then something about disassembling the gun -- I don't know how except for cleaning but no way in Hell I'm sending it that way nor was I asked by Langdon. I assured her they were empty and the Berettas had no mags or ammo. I think they wanted it in blood that there was no way someone could fire the gun if stolen. Only time I sent a firearm through to the mfr. it was with UPS, but it's been a long while. They were very friendly and specific with how it was to be shipped, but it was not a problem for me or them. Of course that was my AMT, so that was at least 18 or 19 years ago. Lots of time for liberal pansies to get their claws in.

I can go to the same service counter and get five different answers to my questions concerning the shipping of firearms. It usually shuts them up to directly state to them their policies and ask for a supervisor if you have a problem.

I usually find mailing services to be more of a pain when sending certain items. If at all possible I avoid them and go straight to the customer service counter.

Uhhmm......It wasn't too awfully long ago that gun owners were boycotting UPS because their refusal to ship handguns due to their own employee theft problems. I'm sure that attitudes at UPS haven't changed much. So what did Brown just do to you?

Send them Fed-Ex or USPS.

I refuse to use UPS. When packages are shipped to me by them they always are crushed some way or another.

i love walking in to any of them, usps included, and tell them i'm shipping a gun, the dropping jaws are such a delight to behold.

especially if theres a line of people to listen in...with more jaws to drop and wide eyed scary looks at me to boot.

they say it must be rendered incapable of firing which is a laugh.

now which thief can't figure out how to put it back together with just a little effort.

oh and it can't be loaded,,,well duh,,,

well i guess there probably at least ONE moron around that would try to ship loaded

and fedex, i believe, wanted me to mark "firearm" on the package, i asked if that was so it could be quickly identified as such and stolen that much easier.

they didn't think that was very funny, can't imagine why...



last i knew, usps will ship gun parts but not a complete gun,,,fyi

UPS is one of the few that do ship handguns.


They always have.

However you have to go to their customer counter because only
FFLs can have them picked up by the driver.

The retail outlets like mail boxes etc.. won't take them for UPS though.

Its unfortunate how misinformation spreads because guns are so icky and politically incorrect.

I have called UPS and FED EX at different times and talked to different people knowing full well they shipped handguns and I got a different answer everytime I called.

If eiter one of the major contract carriers says they don't accept guns just keep going up the chain until they do.

just got back from UPS and what a hoot. 2 service people, 2 supervisors and a 20 min phonecall to ATL just to hear the words i love so much "Mr. Stephens, your right".
the problem was that the idiots dont know the difference between cartarige and magazine.
whata world we live in.
