So what does it mean when there is the Concentric 00 or a Zero within a Zero stamped on the bbl of a Mosin Nagant? I know it's an accuracy mark but is it on every rifle that left the factories after they made sure it could hit something?

hit SOMETHING is the key

this was close range fire. and essential said, the sites are mounted straight, and your in the general ball park.

It's an accuracy proof mark. My 1931 Izzy barrel has a concentric 00 (one 0 inside another) and a K in a circle that was apparently a point of aim proof.

So are Mosin's pretty accurate rifle's (I don't mean competion grade but more like taking them out on the farm & having a good time)?

BTW so the highjack the thread....

Some Mosins are accurate, some are not so accurate. There's a wide variation. The most accurate include Polish M44's, Finnish Mosins, and some of the pre-war Soviets. The least accurate are usually the badly abused wartime Soviets. 2MOA is standard for the good ones, with pie plate groups more likely among the rough end of the barrel.

My m44 has impressed me on occasion. I've taken some crazy shots (mostly up close with ridiculous amounts of luck than relying on the gun itself though) with it, but all in all I'd feel pretty confident hitting a deer at 100-150 yards (farther than that I'd be hesitant cuz my eyesight is dwindling)

Anyone really know if the OO is special or not? Mosins like any rifle can be accurate. Some will shoot sub moa...most will shoot 2moa. Let me know.

OO is not special. most if not all mosins have these markins and in no way reflect the rifles accuracy

Well, you learn somehting every day. I always thought the K in a circle meant it was Kosher! Go figure...

My son's M-44 can keep all 20 rounds from a box of ammo on a paper plate at 200 yards. It's not a good score for competition but would work very well in a war.
