mosin nagant bolt bidy replacement - bolt reheadspaced after?

i plan on replacing the mosin nagant bolt body piece with a replacement. my question is if this part is replaced does the bolt need to be head spaced after?

the piece is below:


plan on having the bent bolt down but would rather not alter the original bolt body.

No, the removable bolt head controls the headspace.

Or you could send your bolt bidy off and have it bent, get the same bolt bidy back, and not even worry about whether it does or doesn't.

I am keeping one in original configuration.. the other i plan to bed the action in the stock.. i am still hesitant to alter metal parts permanently.. i already purchased a replacement body from Numerich for 20 bucks so it is worth it for that, now i can bend this one and keep them both original. thanks for the info RC.

Wow, that is a DIRTY bolt. Mosin bolts are supposed to be shiny. What the heck happened to it?

I am guessing it has not been used at all, it still has grease stuff on it.

It shined up nice with some 00 steel wool and WD40
