I've got a crate, too, but sadly it isn't full. (yet). Makes a great coffee table!

Here's an interesting variation for you. The Finns reworked a number of Mosins as sniper training / competition rifles, becoming the M28/76. Sweet shooter. but you'll definitely pay more than 79 bucks for one.

are you starting a militia? and were all those hexes?
Not starting a militia, but if the zombies ever come the neighbers aer welcome to come by and arm themselves. And yes they are all hexes.
I also have a crate of Turkish Mausers.

A case of hexes.. Nice. What caliber are the Mausers? I can't buy them by the case, but I am slowly starting a collection of the old battle rifles.

Mosins are cheap and the best deal in firearms. They have long gritty triggers, a safety that tears your fingers up and you almost need a two by four to bang the bolt handled up (if there is pitting in the chamber). That said, I think that part of the reason that people say they are not accurate is because they feed them the cheapest nastiest milsurp ammo avalable. OF COURSE they wouldn't be as accurate as some modern rifle shooting modern ammo. Keep in mind the Russians used a modified Mosin in the Olymics to take the gold in 1976 in Biathlon. http://www.examiner.com/firearms-in...k-6-5x54r-olympic-winter-games-biathlon-rifle

My Mosin action is sweet! No hammer required. The trigger is not the best, but heck it shoots, and is more accurate than I am.

I've never experienced this 2x4 bolt some people speak of in any of my mosins. Both are fast and smooth, sometimes too fast and the previously shot case doesn't have enough time to leave before I close the bolt for another shot.

Edit: I guess you could call it a stove pipe.

In all my Mosins the trigger pull is light and smooth and the bolts are all one finger jobs. Its amazing what can be done with a proper in depth cleaning and polishing.

Holy crap dude, you have to really be hustling that bolt to stove pipe a bolt action rifle!!!

I also have never had the 2x4 issue. Then again, I treat it like a soviet peasant would: harsh! People used to slick and smooth Mauser actions will not like these rifles. You gotta muscle 'em, beat on them remorselessly! I slam the bolt open with my hand, and slam it closed. It often likes to do a rimlock jam when I insert a fresh clip, doesn't perturb me any, as I just slam it closed.
