And on and on and on for 10 years since I lost my .243r Remington Modle700, once I found out how truely sweet the Mosin is, it was never far from my hands......awsome rifle!
Yep, I can only agree, for the Arctic, theres no better Rifle than a Mosin Nagant......make mine a Sako M-39, please :D

you take some questionable shots. I guess if you HAVE to put meat on the table.....

My only misgiving with the mosin nagant is the relatively shorter bolt handle when compared to most other bolt designs. Never seems to have been a problem or the russians would have made it longer. Shorter equals less camming action for hard chambering or extracting rounds.

Questionable shots? They seem to have worked quite well. Nice shooting BTW, with irons to boot, I wish I had hunting opportunities like that!

I had a M44 and sadly it was sold. It was a fun and great rifle!

Mosin, short, Um are you sure?
even the fin rifles aren't exactly the smallest guns, and the carbine are about where modern hunting guns start in barrel length.

If theres any question about my shot, then I dont.

I do hunt all year long and as my main 'occupation' as a subsistance Hunter, and I do so with the same Rifle and ammunition, the very accurate and consistant Czeck made 7.62X54R.
10 years ago I lost my .243 "Death ray" M-700ADL that I fit the stock to myself and used only 100grain coreloks to the greatest effect.

Heres a double headshot, 400 meters, when I waited for the Bear to slow and have a look, like most all animals do. Its wide wide open, and distance often makes an animal unpersued think its safe enough to slow, stop or look. Caribou are 100% on that , and many a Wolf as well.

I utilize the Hides, furs and meats, so most of my shots are head and neack shots.
When my boys are shooting at Seals,Walrus,Beluga, the head is the only target available.
As a kid I shot my .22 while other kids had Nintendo, then a bit of Biathalon, then life in general kept me shooting.
Im a well practised shot. I belive in follow up shots too, if I think there is a need. Ive won contestes too, But Im a Man among Men, and theres better shots around than I.

I dont take questionable to me shots, because I know the opportunity for another is just a matter of repositioning or carrying on the already "On" Hunt at hand.

Thats enough about me, this thread is about the Awsomeness of the Mosin system :D
If you like the vids, look up my older stuffs, theres plenty of Mosin shooting vids, and I am in the Arctic, with a Mosin and as the guy who astrted this thread noted, it IS the BEST Rifle here :D :D :D
I use an M-39 and Ill wear it out someday and replace it with a fresh on off the rack :D

I really want to go shoot Hogs someday and litterally "Take Home the Bacon!!" Mmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!

The "real men" in my area of florida use knives and dogs for hog hunting. Traditionally that was how it was done. Most today use a gun since it is safer. You can use a long barrel rifle, but a carbine is handier for working in the southern woods. Perhaps you will do your hog hunting California and it may be more open there. The mosin can be fitted with a long bayonet or pig sticker and maybe that is what you need.

Mosin nagants are hands down the most rugged bolt action rifle on the planet, i can say this because i loaned one to a friend and it somehow got ranover by a road grader while he was out hunting and all it has is a few scratches.

If the Locals use Bayonetts, then so shall I :D

"Pig Sticker" musta come from that way ...........woulda M-44 be 'perfect, and a long ol' spike'd 91 cositter'd "sissy?' ~~LOL!!~~
