I posted this review on the Sig Forum but decided to post here also since the Skeeter doesn't always get much love. The newer ones seem to be much better than the originals. My serial no. starts with 'F03****' for reference. So here's the report:
Well, I finally got to the range today with my new Skeeter. In a nutshell, it ran flawlessly for the approximately 100 rounds that I put through it today and I enjoyed it very much.
The weather was much cooler than expected today with temps around 39 degrees. That probably affected me some as my hands were cold all of the time. I ran CCI Mini-mags exclusively. Three rounds failed to fire, but pulled the trigger again in DA and they fired. So no problems with the pistol at all. I liked shooting it a lot.
As far as accuracy, I was pleasantly surprised. My first 15 shots had 13 of them in a two inch circle at 25 feet, which is decent for me. I shoot one handed because that's what I was taught. I'm not the best shot. I seemed to get a little worse as the session wore on.
I also had my 5 inch Buck Mark there for comparison. Accuracy wise, in my cold hands, I shot about as well with the Mosquito as I did with the Browning. I like the Browning trigger better than the Skeeters'. The Mosquito's SA pull is definately heavier than the BM. It's heavier but there is little movement till it goes boom. When I switched to the BM I actually fired the first round before I was expecting it because the pull is so light after using the Sig.
I went back and forth between the Skeeter and the BM and put about 100 flawless rounds through each. My BM has a fiber optic front sight, so I find that easier to pick up than the front of the Mosquito. The Sig is not hard to find, just not as easy as the FO.
I'm hoping that my wife and daughters like it enough that I can get rid of the S&W 317 I got for their use. They don't shoot very often. I liked the Skeeter enough that I will keep it for myself even if they don't use it. It's a neat little pistol and is very easy to take down and clean. Much easier than the BM to put back togerther, in my opinion.
All in all, I liked this Sig .22 a lot and it's definately a keeper.
