When I was in Louisiana over the summer, during the hurricane weekend, I drove down to visit Gunny. Everyone driving north and like a fool I was heading south. While there he gave me an old Mossberg 46m-b and sold me a 142a. The 46m still sitting where I left it. I took the time over the winter to refresh the 142a a bit. Full takedown and cleaning. Refinished the wood and a new fore grip.

Gunny’s feet shown. Picture of it being prepared for shipment. 142a on the top. And this is what it looks like now.

Missing the peep on the peep sight.it didn’t have a rear sight. I took it from another old Mossberg I had. I have four in various forms of restoration. Did have five so I am gaining on it.

a 46b with the s130 rear peep is a joy to shoot. dc.
I have one, got it when I was about 9. Mine had only the 4X weaver scope on it. 'Bout ten years ago I made a new trigger guard for it (the original bakelite deteriorates), refinished the stock, and put a new variable scope on it. Is still incredibly accurate, though I wish it had a mag instead of a tubular.

I have two model 46’s. Both are tube. The one from Gunny and another on I got over the summer. Looking forward to taking the 142 out shooting. Ordered the aperture today for it.

Great. I refinished one years ago and gave it to my SIL. Kinda wish I'd kept it.
