I have been trying to get my son-in-laws Mossberg 42b, bolt action 22 shooting again but having a problem getting the safety working properly. The gun belonged to his granddaddy and was passed to him.
When I got the gun, the trigger adjustment spring and plunger were missing along with the trigger spring and plunger. I found the parts I need and have them in place.
In the photo of the trigger assembly on the receiver. If you look close, between the trigger head and the thumb safety there is a shiny plunger that is held in place by the trigger spring. That plunger sits on the tip of the safety. When the safety is moved back and forth between fire and safe that plunger moves with it. Keeping pressure on the safety to keep it from unwanted movement.
In the photo you can see the trigger with a spring where plunger should be and the safety tip.
Problem is when I move the safety that plunger will slide off the tip and the safety will just flop back and forth on it's on.
Keep in mind that I have never really seen the gun in actual working condition or can find any info. or photos . The trigger assembly works well and the gun will fire with no other problems. 20200807_101754_resized.jpg 20200807_101950_resized.jpg
Any ideas on how to fix this ???
