Mossberg 500/500A

Can any of you tell me if there is a difference in these models 500, 500A and 500AT? Would a new 500 barrel fit all these models? Thanks

I think the difference between the 500 and the 500a is the stock / forearm size and the capacity. The 500 being the full size and the 500a being the superbantum I think. Cant say anything about the 500at. Whether or not a 500 barrel will fit a 500a or 500at depends on the length of the mag. My 500 holds 5 down below, and if the bantum (500a) holds the same amount, then I believe the barrels are interchangable, but I could be wrong. My manual covered both the 500a and the 500 though, and there were very few times they were distinguished in the manual.

mossberg's website doesn't distinguish between the 500, 500a, and the 500at on the barrels page where you can buy extra barrels.

The letter designation refers to the guage:

500A = 12GA
500C = 20GA
500E = .410

as long as it's 12GA, and the magazine capacity is the same, swap away....

Thanks, I've been looking at a couple of used guns for projects and being able to swap out the barrels is a plus!!!!
