I was taking apart my Mossberg 500 today, and the bolt and bolt slide became stuck towards the rear of the receiver. I did not force or jam them in that position, but I can't for the life of me figure out what to do. I tried tapping the end of the magazine to free it up with no luck. Anyone else ever had this happen? Any advice or help is appreciated.

Check the shell stop and shell slide. Make sure both the action bars are not stuck or jammed. DO NOT force anything, the bolt should just about fall out on its own if you do the right things. It seems there is a block in the bottom that either locks the bolt into closed position or does not. That bar underneath the bolt may have inadvertantly gotten stuck into such a position so as to hold the bolt into the current position.

Ive already removed the forearm with action bars. This is my first shotgun so forgive me for my ignorance. Where is the shell stop and slide? Here is a better pic of how the action bars won't slide into the bolt slide.

I was reading the manual....I fixed it, about the 50th time I hit tapped the magazine it dropped loose. Thanks for the help.

The bolt slide popped out of engagement with the bolt and jammed against the receiver/shell lifter.

I was reading the manual...

I was hoping that was the case when I asked, but over the years here I've learned never to take anything for granted :D. Glad to hear you got it sorted out,
