For some odd known reason the plastic tang safety thumb piece or lever broke in half on my Mossberg 500. By some chance would anyone of you out there have one laying around that you switched one off of ? If so, please pm or email me. Thanks.

A not uncomoon occurence, sad to say.

Check into getting an aluminum safety off a 590 model instead (order it if necessary). They're interchangeable, and - the aluminum will NOT crack or break off. :D

I had one break years ago and I replaced it with a piece of toothbrush handle that I cut down sanded and drilled a hole thru. It was bright yellow and served as a good reminder.

Mossberg may just give you one if you called them. They were real nice to me when I called and said that I boogered up a handguard retaining nut. I offered to buy one and they offered to send me one free of charge.

No, they won't any part of the safety, they will only send to a qualified gunsmith.
Been there, when I was looking to get a detent ball.

I called mossberg a few months back for a replacement safety as well. I was told they will not sell any safety parts to individuals and I should ship the gun to their Texas? facility. I just bought the aluminum replacement and a 1/8" detent ball (which I dropped and lost) and did it myself.

Exactly. I still haven't replaced my detent ball.. need to get that nice oversized metal safety from brownell's.

Most of the gun parts websites charge a crazy amount of money for the detent ball. I think I paid around $5 for 15 of them rather than $7 for one!! I just googled 1/8 steel ball bearing

I hated the small POS plastic factory safety, mine didn't break, I never gave it a chance too.
They're well known for breaking.

Money well spent!
Yeah its $30. and worth every penny, it vastly improves function and tactile feel.
And it comes with a nice hex head screw to replace the dagblasted one-way screwhead Mossberg uses.
