I have read that the Mossberg 535 is based off of the Model 500 and the Model 835. Is the Mossberg 535 just as rugged, reliable, etc as the Model 500? Is it just a Model 500 Super Mag?

I use 3.5" load for goose hunting, gives you a little more reach, and it makes your buddies look at you like ***?!?! are those when you start putting them in the mag tube. Good gun, the only problem I had with mine is that it would kick shells out from the mag tube once in awhile, fixed that by stripping it down and cleaning some sticky gunk (aka swamp mud) out of the receiver. Almost all the 500 series after-market parts fit except the barrels, they are the same chokes as the 500 also.

Uhm yea, the 3 and 3 1/2 magnums....are they more powerful or just have a larger load of shot? I'm looking for something that people look at you funny when you tell them you hunt with it. Idk maybe 3 1/2 slugs or 3 1/2 00 buck.

From my experience it usually is more shot, look at 00 your standard 2.75" shell has around 9 pellets where as the 3.5" has (if I remember right) around 14 pellets, the load will be moving slower but you have the higher amount of pellets going at the target.

I have the Turkey/Waterfowl combo. The shotgun hasn't failed me except for shells of cheap Winchester sticking in it, but I think that is an ammo issue. I really like the shotgun overall, but I am biased towards Mossbergs.

Shameless ad: I am selling mine right now because I don't have a use for it now. PM me if you wish.

A 3" and 3.5" has to have at least some more power than a 2 3/4"? I mean it has greater recoil and range, yes? Oh and I found a 2.75" and 3" slug that have same weight so im guessing the 3" would have more powder?

The 3.5" shines with steel shot for waterfowl, and as a turkey gun. I have the 835 turkey/waterfowl combo. For upland game or with nontoxic shot as hevi-shot you really do not need a 3.5" gun. Keep in mind that you can always shoot anything in a 3.5". Most important is to find a gun that fits you, and is one you can comfortably handle (can you reliably shuck a pump?).
