Sitting in a bedroom all it's life and coming out for an occasional range trip, why wouldn't bluing hold up if you take care of it? My waterfowl shotguns get dunked in mud and salt water now and then, they live a hard life. And, you don't know muggy until you've been to the gulf coast, though I do NOT live without air conditioning. The blued ones still look okay, though I do prefer plastic and the camo finish on my old Mossy 500. On my blued guns, I paste wax 'em with floor wax. That really seems to help. I strip the oil before and after the season and paste wax 'em, whether I hunt ducks or just doves with 'em. I learned to do that right here on this board, but apparently, it's an old wisdom.
